Process for the preparation of condensation products of the pyrenequinone series In the patent 412 053 and its additions the preparation of the 3 # 4 # 8 # 9-Dibenzpyrenchinons-9 # io was described, which with the action of Benzov lchlorid on benzanthron in the presence of aluminum chloride and with expedient Use of oxygen is formed. Here, the Bz-i-benzoylbenzanthrone occurs as an intermediate.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß q. # 5 # 8 # 9-Dibenzpyrenchinon-3 # io
Küpe Baumwolle in kräftigen gelbstichigroten Tönen an.
It has now been found that q. # 5 # 8 # 9-dibenzpyrenquinone-3 # io is formed when the isomeric 2-benzoylbenzanthrone is condensed with aluminum chloride or sodium aluminum chloride, likewise expediently with the addition of oxygen or air. The product, which is produced in excellent yield and purity, dyes cotton in strong yellow-tinged red tones from an orange-yellow vat. This was surprising, because 4 '5' 87 '9-dibenzpyrenquinone-3 # io allegedly already by R. S cho 11 (Reports 55, page 122123) from i # q ## - dibenzoylnaphthalene with only about 5% Yield was shown and which, as S cho 11 found, shows no relationship to vegetable fiber.
In further contrast to the product described by S c h o 1 1
shows the dibenzpyrenquinone obtainable by the present process on boiling
no color reaction with ethyl alcoholic sodium hydroxide solution.
