Description
Process for the production of lacquer layers, films, plastic compounds, Synthetic threads and other structures using. of cellulose ethers It was found that very valuable lacquer layers, films, plastic masses, Artificial threads and other structures made using cellulose ethers if you look at these products in their production as organic Adds bases that are not or not very volatile. Compared to the corresponding Products that are obtained without the addition of these bases are the products according to the present invention by significantly greater resistance to the by aging-related influences such as attacks from the weather and light. It was not previously known that the durability of structures made of cellulose ethers can be increased significantly by any additives. Through the present procedure therefore the technical applicability of cellulose ethers is greatly expanded.
From the large number of useful organic bases are for example the substituted guanidines, such as triphenylguanidine, the biguanides, tetramethylthiuram disulfide, ß-naphthyl biguanide, aralkylated aromatic bases such as benzyl and dibenzyl aniline, Carbazo.l, N-Ethyl carbazole and aminobenzoic acid ester, without thereby the The scope of the substances that can be used should be limited.
Appropriately, one makes the selection of the bases such that such for Use that form completely homogeneous masses with the cellulose ethers. at the production of opaque lacquer layers, non-transparent films or filled ones plastic masses is also the use of non-volatile inorganic basic Fillers or pigments, such as zinc oxide, white lead, lead oxide, aluminum oxide, advantageous.
It has also been shown that the new anti-aging agents in in most cases already in very small amounts, based on the applied cellulose ether weight calculated, are effective.
In the Austrian patent 73 oor are formanilide and Acetanilide as a solvent for cellulose ethers in random order with alcohols, acids, esters, chlorinated hydrocarbons, vegetable oils and mineral oils as well as a further series of very heterogeneous substances are listed. Solvents for cellulose ethers are always used in small proportions, in which the solvent component is the cellulose derivative at weight predominates. From this compilation of the most diverse solvents in Austrian patent 73 001 does not apply to the present process remove.
Example i 7 parts by weight of butyl cellulose are used in a mixture of i i parts by weight of ethyl acetate, ii parts by weight of benzene, 5 parts by weight of toluene, 10 parts by weight of xylene, 10 parts by weight of alcohol and 9 parts by weight of ethylglycol dissolved with the addition of 0.15 to 0.2 parts by weight of N-ethylcarbazole. The one from this The lacquer layers obtained are distinguished from the corresponding carbazole-free ones Paint films are characterized by a durability that is around four times longer.
For the production of an opaque butyl cellulose lacquer, the the above-mentioned carbazole-containing paint with 10 parts by weight of zinc white, if appropriate with the addition of organic pigment dyes, and 1 to 2 parts by weight of dibutyl phthalate mixed.
Example e To produce a durable film, 20 parts by weight of benzyl cellulose, -2 parts by weight of tricresyl phosphate and 0.4 to 0.5 parts by weight of β-naphthyl biguanide are dissolved in 75 parts by weight of benzene and 5 parts by weight of alcohol. The films obtained from this solution show about five times longer durability, especially when exposed to ultraviolet rays, than the corresponding base-free benzyl cellulose films. EXAMPLE 3 An aging-resistant film is obtained if 12 parts by weight of ethyl cellulose (with an ethoxyl content of 47 to 48 '/ ") are dissolved in a mixture of 80 parts by weight of benzene, 8 parts by weight of alcohol with the addition of 0.3 parts by weight of tetramethylthiuram disulfide and this solution The films obtained have a considerably greater resistance to aging than the films obtained according to the above approach without the addition of tetramethylthiuram disulfide.
