Description
Process for making wood grain papers The invention relates to the production of wood grain paper. So far we have had such patterns mostly reproduced in expensive multi-color printing processes. According to the invention extremely lifelike patterns can be created in a maximum of two work steps Produce precious woods on any paper, using the paper first the base color of the wood colored or printed and then using a photographically or photomechanically produced reproduction of a fine wood grain printed in a darker color corresponding to the basic color of the wood.
Wood grain paper in two steps - by priming and printing -produce is known. But "you are not from an original wood and a photomechanically then produced printing form, but has the wood grain is artificially imitated, which is essential for the reproduction to be true to nature belittles. On the other hand, it was known to photomechanically reproduce wooden originals. But with such printing plates you only had hard surfaces, such as steel, printed and received patterns without the depth effect that the real wood pattern having. It is precisely this depth effect that makes the pattern similar to nature essential increases, only comes into its own when printed on paper, where the fiber structure of the paper dyed with the base color in the finished pattern very happily can. Only the combination of the known methods thus provides according to the invention extremely natural-looking patterns with depth effects that are the most expensive Multi-color printing is on par, but much cheaper.
Art.The following is used in the production of the colored papers according to the invention Proceed in a wise manner: A wooden panel to be reproduced is stained as required and polished. : "According to the original that has been preserved, the base color of the wood is applied to the paper printed on, or the paper is colored with the basic color of the wood. as The basic color of the wood is the lightest part of the wood, which is the original shows, so z. B. in oak a light yellowish brown, in mahogany a reddish yellow Brown etc. The grain that was reproduced by photographic means then becomes printed onto the colored paper or paper printed with the base color, preferably in the gravure (offset) process, with a printing ink that, accordingly the base color of the wood is kept different tones darker. on this way you get with only. two color ranges öriglnäl-true reproductions of Wood any. Art.
