Method for combining a metal body with a refractory one

on a cast body means that first by dipping a core into a

the specified method of execution for metals with a large difference in melting points
is not applicable.
mischen.According to the invention, however, the union of such metals,

Zur Veranschaulichung der Vereinigung einer Rotgußlagerschale zwecks
Durchführung des
neuen Verfahrens diene beiliegende Zeichnung.
To illustrate the union of a gunmetal bearing shell for the purpose of carrying out the new method, the accompanying drawing is used. A is the lower part of the molding box and B is its upper part. A gunmetal bearing shell C - is molded into the upper part, while the recess D for the iron or steel reinforcement jacket is provided below it. E is the pouring opening, which expediently opens from below into the cavity of the casting mold for the iron jacket.
If you pour liquid iron into the sprue, it first fills the lower part
the mold and then rises as the pouring continues, with the hanging
molded gunmetal bearing shell C is evenly surrounded from below. This will
avoided that the gunmetal through the inflowing, significantly above the melting point
of the gunmetal heated iron is dissolved and washed away. Rather, it only occurs
after filling the cavity under the gunmetal, a contact between iron and
Gunmetal a, whereby the gunmetal softens; this leads to a permanent connection with
the solidifying iron.
anwendbar. Es kommen als leichter schmelzbare Materialien z. B. Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen
und als schwerer schmelzbare Materialien z. B. gegenüber Aluminium auch Rotguß,
Bronze u. dgl. in Betracht.
The same procedure is also used for metals other than gunmetal and iron
applicable. There are more easily meltable materials such. B. aluminum and aluminum alloys
and as more difficult to melt materials e.g. B. compared to aluminum also gunmetal,
Bronze and the like into consideration. Except for bearing shells, the procedure is also applicable to others
Castings applicable, e.g. B. for sliding plates, bushings and the like.
