ebenso sogenanntes säurefestes Gußeisen verschiedenster Art.Process for the preparation of ammonia and ammonium bisulfate from ammonium sulfate
by melting down ammonium sulfate decomposes at temperatures of 100 ° upwards
according to the equation: (NH4) 2 SO4-NH3 -E- NH, HS04 in ammonia and ammonium bisulfate.
The former escapes as a gas, the latter remains as a liquid melt.
Unchanged ammonium sulfate dissolves in this melt and decomposes
further heating in the above sense. The melted good attacks the usual
Materials, especially metal, more or less violently and is made of metals
reduced to a certain extent to compounds of sulphurous acid. This latter
This circumstance is particularly harmful as the sulfite compounds sublime easily and
clog the ammonia line. Aluminum, its use for the stated purpose
is recommended, behaves like the other metals according to experiments by the inventor,
also so-called acid-resistant cast iron of various kinds.
According to the invention, vessels made of silicon dioxide, e.g. B. molten
Quartz, quartz o
Process suitable and are not attacked by the melt. You are allowed to melt
however, do not allow them to solidify in the vessels, not even in small quantities, because
otherwise the vessel will jump when it is reheated. The vessel must therefore be open all the time
a temperature which is above the melting point of the melt.
In diesem
If you work on ammonium bisulphate, a temperature of i
5o '. In many cases, however, it is not practical to completely remove the ammonium sulfate
to decompose, especially if the process is in conjunction with the
Procedure of the patent 4152o6 and its additional patent, a.78 676 is carried out,
because on the one hand the complete decomposition takes a very long time and on the other hand the bisulfate
is always converted back into sulfate in the cycle. It is therefore more advantageous to
to leave a certain part of the sulphate undecomposed in the melt. In this
Trap the temperature must be kept higher, depending on the sulfate content
between i 5o and 25o °. Can the melt solidify (e.g. during furnace repairs)
not avoided, the latter must be removed from the vessel before being heated with water or the like
be released to prevent the vessel from cracking.
It has been found that the decomposition of ammonium sulfate
the slower the process, the higher the layer of melt and the pressure of the
Ammonia are in the decomposition vessel. That is why it is beneficial to use shallow vessels
Apply lower layer and the ammonia that develops
suck off
or it by a stream of water vapor or by a gas stream from the melting vessel
to remove.
To carry out the method you can, for example, a cylindrical
Quartz vessel with retracted neck of 5o 1 content with 40 kg of dried ammonium sulphate
charge, connect it to the ammonia line and now carefully up to z / 3 of its height
heat. Melting then proceeds with evolution of ammonia. Is everything
melted, heating continues as long as the ammonia development lasts, but
the temperature of 300 ° must not be exceeded. With progressive decomposition
the temperature can be gradually lowered and finally dropped to 150 °
leave, since the melting point of ammonium bisulfate is around i45 °. Is the decomposition
when it is completed, the liquid melt is drawn off by means of a siphon or it is poured in again
Remove the gas line.
