Sobald der Druck rechts vom Kolben c hoch genug gestiegen ist, um das Ventil p zu öffnen, tritt Druckluft in die Druckleitung t herüber. Ebenso wird, sobald das Vakuum links vom Kolben b tief genug ist, das Ventil o geöffnet, so daß Luft aus der Saugleitung s herausgesaugt wird. Beim Kolbenrückgang schließen sich alsbald die Ventile o, P, während die Ventile f, g zunächst noch geschlossen bleiben. Sobald das hinter dem Kolben c entstehende Vakuum tief genug ist, öffnet sich das Ventil g, so daß Atmosphärendruck hinter dem Kolben c hergestellt wird, so daß bei dem nächsten Arbeitshub in umgekehrter Richtung wieder Druckluft in der gleichen Weise in die Leitung überzutreten vermag, wie es für den ersten Arbeitshub beschrieben wurde. Gleichzeitig wird Luft links vom Kolben b komprimiert, wodurch hier eine Druckspannung entsteht, die hinreichend ist, das Ventil f entgegen der Schließfeder lz zu öffnen und somit den Raum links vom Kolben b nach dem mittleren Raum k hin zu entlüften. Es wird also auch an diesem Ende des Zylinders der Ausgangszustand wiederhergestellt, so daß beim nächsten Arbeitshub in der Richtung von links nach rechts das Aussaugen von Luft aus der Leitung s fortgesetzt werden kann.
