Bei der in beiliegender Zeichnung dargestellten Getreide-Putzmaschine wird das zu behandelnde Getreide von zwei entgegengesetzten Seiten bei α und b einem feststehenden, an beiden Enden geschlossenen Cylinder C zugeführt, in welchem sich die durch eine Riemscheibe c angetriebene Welle d dreht. Dieselbe trägt in der Mitte des Cylinders die einen Doppelkegel bildende Schmirgelscheibe h und gegen die beiden Enden desselben die nach Art von Schiffsschrauben ausgeführten Schraubenpaare ff¹ und gg^l, deren Flügel derart gestellt sind, dafs sie das bei α und b gleichzeitig zugeführte Getreide gegen die Schmirgelscheibe h und den in der Mitte des Cylinders angebrachten Ablauf i drängen. Der letztere wird durch eine Klappe / verschlossen, welche durch ein auf dem Hebel m verschiebbares Gewicht η nach Bedürfnifs mehr oder weniger stark belastet werden kann, um dem Getreide den Weg mehr oder weniger zu versperren und es in entsprechend mehr oder weniger kräftige Berührung mit der Schmirgelscheibe zu bringen, an welcher die Getreidekörner dadurch abgeschliffen werden, dafs letztere an der kreisenden Bewegung der Schmirgelscheibe nicht oder nur in geringem Mafse theilnehmen.In the case of the grain cleaning machine shown in the accompanying drawing, the grain to be treated is fed from two opposite sides at α and b to a stationary cylinder C , closed at both ends, in which the shaft d , driven by a pulley c , rotates. Die letzteren sind zur Achsenrichtung etwas schräg gestellt und sollen dazu dienen, das von den Schraubenflügelpaareny/¹ und g g¹ nach der Mitte gedrängte Getreide aufzulockern, und dadurch, dafs sie ein weit geringeres Bestreben haben als die Schraubenflügelpaare ff¹ und g g·¹, das Getreide nach dem Auslauf und gegen die Schmirgelscheibe h zu verschieben, so werden die einzelnen Körner eine Drehbewegung um sich selbst erhalten, wodurch das Getreide, ehe es an der Schmirgelscheibe anlangt, gröfstentheils durch sich selbst bearbeitet und gereinigt wird.
