Abstract

In a process to remove marine pollutants from e.g. a shipwreck (1) by pumping, the pump (A1, A2) is presented to an aperture in the hull. Depending upon the viscosity of the pollutant, the pollutant is either first liquefied by heat or energy and then removed by pumping, or pumped out of the hull into another container. The pollutant is transferred to a bladder tank that is then lifted to the surface by inflation of a balloon with gas. On arrival at the surface, the contents of the bladder tank are transferred to another rigid container, pre-filled with water, for treatment and removal. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly.
