Abstract
Process for applying a coating to a strip-like material (2) comprises: applying the coating material in its molten state using a rotating roller (6); solidifying by cooling; and joining to a substrate. A film of material is formed on a section of the casing (13) of the roller and the substrate is guided relative to the roller so that the coating material continuously flows from the roller onto the surface of the substrate. The coating material is conveyed from an inner hollow chamber of the roller through passages on the casing of the roller. An Independent claim is also included for a device for applying a coating to a strip-like material. Preferred Features: The strip-like material is a metallic strip and the coating material is a metal. The melting point of the coating is less than the melting point of the strip-like material.
