A cellular inflatable building element (1'', 1'''), for the purpose of a simple production and being universally used for objects that are formed from a number of building elements, is characterized by the combination of the following features: it has straight-lined lateral delimitations (2) located in a plane; all lateral delimitations (2) are of the same length; the building element has a cavity; this cavity is delimited by a deformable thin-walled membrane (3, 4); this membrane (3, 4), which is provided with a valve, is the outer delimitation of the building element (1, 1', 1'', 1'''); at least one deformable, thin-walled intermediate membrane (7) extending over approximately the height of the building element (1'', 1''') is provided inside the cavity; this intermediate membrane extends approximately perpendicular to the plane and connects the membranes (3, 4) of the building element (1'', 1'''), which extend, in essence, in the direction of the plane and which are located on both sides of the cavity, whereby; connecting means (14, 17), which extend approximately over the length of the lateral delimitations, are provided on the lateral delimitations (2) for establishing a connection to an adjacent building element (1'', 1''').
