Abstract

The two door hinges are mounted at the bottom corners of a door which stands up vertically when closed and lies in a horizontal position when open. The fixed hinge band contains coil springs under tension, arranged to compensate for the weight of the door as it is opened. Each movable hinge band (4) is a thin blade hinged (6) to the end of the fixed band and has a stop (7) to limit the swiveling motion.
