Description
Process for hypersensitizing photographic emulsions Es it is known that an increase is achieved by post-treating optically sensitized emulsions to achieve sensitization (hypersensitization). Were proposed hitherto exclusively alkaline baths with or without the addition of silver salts for this purpose. All emulsions hypersensitized by this method tend because of the considerable Alkali addition to fog and nekkenbildung and have an extremely low Durability on.
These inconveniences are eliminated by the present invention. It is a hypersensitization bath in which there is hydrogen peroxide or its descendants, e.g. B. ammonium peroxide, or a mixture of both alone or in the presence of metal compounds, e.g. B. lead nitrate. With special Success who. the silver salts used. Among these stand out especially in water poorly soluble compounds, such as. B. silver vanadinate, silver molybdate, silver tungstate, Silver uranium and others. Hydrogen peroxide is sufficient to dissolve the latter salts but not, rather ammonium oxide must be used. It doesn't matter whether the sparingly soluble salts are mixed with ammonium peroxide or first with Ammonia and then with hydrogen peroxide. One can do the procedure by doing this too make it easier for the sparingly soluble silver salts to be used during emulsification brings into the layer by z. B. a silver vanadinate emulsion with a Mix the silver bromide emulsion and let it mature together. The solidified or already dried one Mixed emulsion is made with a very dilute solution of hydrogen peroxide and ammonium peroxide or another peroxide bathed in the usual way and dried.
Some exemplary embodiments of the method are given below: Suitable plates of the trade are bathed in 1 oo parts of distilled water, z parts of a 1.5 percent aqueous lead nitrate solution, 0.5 parts of a 33 percent Hydrogen peroxide solution or in 1 oo parts of distilled water, a parts of one 1 percent aqueous silver nitrate solution, 0.5 parts of a 33 percent hydrogen peroxide solution. Or one drops 10 ccm of a 1 percent silver nitrate solution in the warmth with sodium tungstate solution and after washing the precipitate sufficiently, swirl it around with so a lot of ammonia that it just goes into solution. Then you fill the solution on Soo ccm with distilled water and gives 1.5 ccm of a 33 per cent Hydrogen peroxide solution added. In this solution, four suitable pan-chronograph plates are commercially available of the format g ', i a bathed for five minutes at room temperature.
In all of the examples, the plates are placed in distilled water re-watered and then quickly dried in a slightly warmed air stream.
