Abstract

Prior art painting devices are perceived as being disadvantageous in that a relatively large amount of paint is lost during cleaning carried out using a scraper, and by virtue of the fact that the color changing device can not be fully cleaned. In order to prevent this drawback, the invention provides that the scraping station (66) assigned to the color changing device (48) is arranged on the end of the color changing device (48) facing away from the connecting device (12). This enables the scraper, during a cleaning process, to also move through the color changing device (48) and to clean the same. In order to prevent a contamination of the paint supply device (60, 62, 64), a control element (18) closes a paint valve (54, 56, 58), which has just been opened, at the moment in which the scraper moves past the opening of the corresponding paint supply line (61, 63, 65). The position of the scraper is detected by a sensor (50) in the area of the color changing device (48). The residual paint present in the color changing device (48) between the opening of the corresponding paint supply line (61, 63, 65) and the scraping station (66) is carried away via a residual paint channel (72).
