Description

KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL

PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.

The present invention relates to a method for dewatering spirit or ethyl alcohol mixtures through the simultaneous utilization of the solubility of the amyl alcohol for ethyl alcohol and the solubility of common salt in water.

If you mix alcohol with table salt and amyl alcohol, a lower layer of is formed aqueous saline solution and an upper one, essentially ethyl alcohol and amyl alcohol Containing layer with a lower water content than the original spirit possessed.

Because of this behavior, you can use any spirit or any aqueous ethyl alcohol mixture give a higher concentration. It is useful to use the table salt in cheapest form, e.g. B. as Fegesalz, and the amyl alcohol of the highest possible boiling point, in order to be able to easily separate it again from the ethyl alcohol by distillation.

If one uses a top-up alcohol of about 44 0 Tralles, then 100 parts by weight of the same are mixed with about 5 parts by weight of sweeping salt and 25 parts by weight of amyl alcohol. This mixture is stirred well and left to rest for a short time, after which there is soon separation into two layers. The lower layer, consisting of aqueous sodium chloride solution, is drained off, while the upper layer, which contains the ethyl alcohol of the tailings and the amyl alcohol and shows about 80 ° Tralles, can be mixed again with about as much sodium chloride as before for further concentration and the layer formation can be brought about. Thereupon the recently obtained upper layer will show about 88 ° tralles. The ethyl alcohol can be separated off from it in a suitable manner, for example by distillation.

The amounts by weight given above can vary depending on the concentration of the to be dehydrated Experience alcohol changes; so it is recommended for alcohol that is richer in water to use more table salt.
