Flash lamp, especially for photographic purposes There are already
Flash lamps known in which an oxidizable metal in tape or wire form
or a flashlight mixture in a gas-tight sealed, completely or partially
evacuated, transparent vessel is housed, which is a filling of oxygen,
- Contains an oxygen gas mixture or a gas that emits oxygen. Of these well-known
Flashlight lamps differs from the lamp according to the invention in that as
Light developer foils made of oxidizable substances, especially metals and metal alloys,
are used, which are embedded in the glass body so that they are in the effective area
an ignition device.
Mittel i/,io Sekunde.
Experiments have shown that films burn at an extraordinary rate if the sufficient oxygen is present in a suitable purity or combination of appropriate pressure. This rapid combustion occurs when the filling of the vitreous contains the same amount of oxygen that is contained in the same amount of atmospheric air. There is the remarkable difference that the combustion of, for example, aluminum foils in the open atmosphere takes place very slowly, so to speak creeping, while the combustion takes place in a flash with a pure oxygen filling of the vessel at 150 mm Hg pressure. In this case, according to the measurements taken, the duration of the combustion is on average i /, io seconds. The rate of combustion can be increased by increasing the oxygen pressure. The peculiar phenomenon occurs that when burned in atmospheric air, the light effect of the metal foil is only one hundredth of the light effect that is achieved when burned in the same amount of pure oxygen at a pressure of 50 mm Hg inside the vessel. The gas pressure in the lamp is then reduced in relation to the proportion of oxygen in atmospheric air, i.e. in the ratio of approximately -> i to 79 in the lamp.
Particularly metals, metal alloys and rare ones are used as foil material
Suitable for earth, e.g. B. aluminum, copper, iron, nickel, phosphor bronze, cerium, zircon,
also organic substances. The incineration of the foil can be done by any

beträgt die Dicke etwa 0,0005 mm.In the drawing, a flashlight lamp is an embodiment of the invention
shown with electric ignition. The lamp is in the shape of an ordinary one
electric light bulb. The glass bulb i has the usual glass base 2 with a melted-in
Tube 3 for evacuating the lamp or filling in the gases. The power supply wires
4.a, 4.b are melted into the glass feet 2 and up to about the middle of the
Glass bulb out. The wires are passed through a glass bead just before they end
5 held together and are at the end by a fuse wire
6 with each other
tied together. The ignition wire can be equipped with a squib 7 to prevent combustion
to facilitate. The surrounding space is loose with foils made of an oxidizable substance
8 completed. The lighting effect and the burning rate are the same
The weight of the lamp is greater, the smaller the film thickness. With metal foils
the thickness is about 0.0005 mm.
The lamp does not need any protection against the risk of explosion in the event of a leak
of the glass bulb. This effect is based on the fact that if the glass bulb leaks
the combustion of the metal foil takes place very slowly, so that a dangerous increase in pressure
by releasing the heat of combustion to the external atmosphere surrounding the lamp
is prevented. The only drawback to the lamp leaking is that it
does not work as a flashlight.
When the current is switched on, the ignition wire 6 and, if necessary, comes
the ignition pill 7 for combustion. The resulting pilot flame brings the surrounding one
Leaf filling 8 for inflammation. The filling must of course be in the area of action of the
Ignition device lie. The lamp has because of the failure of a fuse and the
Possibility to use cheap foil material, a very low manufacturing price.
absorbierende Wirkung hervorbringt.Another advantage of the lamp is that there are currents for ignition
of low tension can be used as foils because of their low strength
are extremely flammable. The tension of a simple one is enough
Flashlight battery to initiate ignition. The flash lamp therefore has
also the advantage that their use is not tied to a power grid. -At
