PATENTAMTPATENT OFFICE
Zwecken findet. The device forming the subject of the present invention has the purpose of from burnt magnesite or magnesite spar to represent carbonate of magnesia hydrate, which In industry, it is widely used for clarification, disinfection and similar purposes finds.
This in the accompanying drawings in Fig-. 1 in Aufrifs and in the Fig. 2 shown in Grundrifs in their Gesammtanordnung device consists of a grinder (pan mill) and a number of Saturateuren from that described below and v in Figures 3 and 4 in detail Construction illustrated.
The etched magnesia obtained by annealing magnesite or magnesite spar is a crumbly, earthy mass, which, for the purpose of representing. carbonated magnesia hydrate, first hydrated and then carbonized.
Since the hydration of magnesia is very difficult, it must be ground extremely finely, which in the present device takes place in the pan A with simultaneous supply of water, whereby the hydration is already initiated.
The pan mill is provided with an overflow device B , which ensures that only the finest magnesia particles, which are suspended in the water and are thus washed over the inner edge, leave the grinder, as in the case of a feasting device. The degree of fineness can be regulated by arranging a device for adjusting the overflow.
The completion of hydration can be carried out at the same time as carbonization; For this purpose, the milk of magnesia coming from the mill is passed into saturation vessel C. Since magnesia absorbs carbonic acid only with difficulty and easily settles on the ground, the former must be exposed to the action of carbonic acid for a long time and be constantly moved during this action; therefore a series of vessels C is used, through which the milk of magnesia must flow. These vessels are provided with an intensely working agitator, "- which prevents the magnesia from settling on the floor and at the same time brings it into intimate contact with the carbonic acid in thin layers on large surfaces. The arrangement of these vessels is as follows: In a closed vessel C which is either completely cylindrical, as shown, or at least has a semicircular curved base, an axis D rotatable at the ends in stuffing boxes is attached to which a large number of disks E are attached, which on their outer circumference correspond to the axis parallel metal strip G (so-called blow bars) wear which cause a stirring of the approximately lower to the ground material during revolve the axle. the carbon dioxide is introduced at H and sweeps through the located in the discs e and mutually staggered perforations J through the entire vessel, to go out again at K and into the following vessel to enter.
Pure carbonic acid or gases containing carbonic acid are used for this carbonization.
The device functions on the principle of countercurrent in such a way that the fresh carbon dioxide or the carbonic acid gas enters the last vessel in the series, i.e. with that milk of magnesia is brought into contact with which the other vessels has passed through and has been in contact with carbonic acid in them.
