Description

Device to prevent organic build-up on iron hulls As studies partly on ships and partly in aquariums have shown, it is themselves in the sea water and at the point of attachment forming copper salts, which the attachment from living beings, for example copper-clad wooden ships. Therefore has already been suggested, finely divided copper or similarly acting compounds by mechanical means, e.g. B. by an oil coating or by a cement paint on the iron hull of the ship. In contrast, the subject matter of the invention forms one Disregard, which should cause the copper connection by electrolytic means is transferred to the: under the water lounger the iron hull. According to the invention the hull is connected to the negative pole of a power source (dynamo machine) connected, while the positive poles in the form of some copper cables close to the hull be carried in the water. Sufficient if more appropriate and more uniform Distribution of the current transfer extremely low cathodic metal deposits, to prevent the attachment of organic creatures to the hull, so that only low currents are required. From a well-known institution where the Ship's hull precipitation generated by hydrogen (i, differs the present one by the use of copper compounds and acting similarly Substances as cathode material at low currents.

As further research has shown, the use of Anodes -us arsenic-copper alloys are particularly effective because of the toxic effect of arsenic significantly exceeds that of copper.
