Description
Process for the preparation of a colloidal silver chloride containing, Electrolyte-free compound readily soluble in water Already from Lottermoser and E. v. M e y e r (see Journal for Practical Chemistry N.F. 56 (2), p.247 and 57, P. 543) solutions of silver halides have been obtained by treatment dilute solutions of colloidal silver with free halogen. These solutions are but very sensitive to electrolytes; when mineral acid is added, they become irreversible pleases.
This precipitation can be carried out using the process described in Patent Specification 103 406 Make it reversible if you get one after L o t t e r -in o s. e r and M e y e r colloidal silver halide solution added gelatin and then this solution with a those of ammonium citrate or other ammonium or alkali salts.
P a a 1 und V o s s (vgl. Ber. 37 [19o41, S.3862) erhielten festes, wasserlösliches, kolloidales Silberchlorid, indem sie zu einer mit Lysalbinsäure geschützten kolloidalen SilberoY_vdlösung Natriumchloridlösung zugaben.P a a 1 and V o s s (cf. Ber. 37 [19o41, p.3862) received solid, water-soluble, colloidal silver chloride by being made into one with lysalbinic acid add sodium chloride solution to protected colloidal SilberoY_vdlösung.
It has now been found that solid, colloidal silver chloride can be conveniently obtained containing compounds that are very easily soluble in water and very durable, can reach if one introduces chlorine into a silver protein solution, thereby the solution keeps the resulting solution neutral by continuously adding small amounts of alkali then dialyzed and carefully brought to dryness. The brownish one obtained in this way Powder dissolves very easily in water with a neutral reaction. The aqueous solution, which is extraordinarily durable, looks in a thin layer in the transmitted light bright clear brown, gray opalescent in the conspicuous light. With mineral acid the silver chloride-albumose compound is precipitated; but this precipitation dissolves with a little alkali it can easily be restored to the neutral liquid as before. By Sodium chloride solution and sodium hydroxide solution do not precipitate.
The product is intended to be used for pharmaceutical purposes. example ro parts by weight of a silver protein compound (see patent specification 105 866) dissolved in zoo parts by weight of water. One leads into this solution with usual Temperature with stirring for about an hour slowly chlorine and keeps the solution by adding small amounts of dilute caustic soda neutral. These Solution is then dialyzed against water until it does not contain silver nitrate Chlorine reaction is longer valid, and then by vacuum distillation (not above 40 °) for Brought dry.
The brownish powder obtained in this way shows the properties mentioned above, it contains about 7.5 % silver and about 2.5% chlorine. The yield is about ro parts by weight.
