Diese Bremsung ist nur dann wirksam, wenn im Kurzschlußstromkreis keine Unterbrechung oder kein zu großer Widerstand liegt. Es kommt nun häufig vor, daß der Übergangswiderstand der Bürsten infolge-Verschmutzung der Schleifflächen, Hängenbleiben der Kohlen in ihrer Führung, Vorstehens von Glimmer zwischen den Kollektorsegmenten usw. einen so hohen Wert annimmt, daß beim - Kurzschluß kein nennenswerter Strom zustande kommt, so daß die Bremswirkung nicht eintritt.
