Description
Method for dyeing masses or fibers made of cellulose acetate The invention relates to the dyeing of masses or fibers (artificial silk) which consist of cellulose acetate. It is well known that such material , as a rule, cannot be carried out with the usual acidic and direct dyes on the market. These dyes are salts of sulfonic acids. From this it was concluded that the common sulfonic acid solubilizing group must be avoided in dyes for cellulose acetate fibers and many methods have been patented for the use of dyes containing other solubilizing groups such as the carboxyl group (British Patents 202 157 and 207 7 11) , or a temporarily solubilizing group, for example the group -NH # CH2 SO3H, which is split off by hydrolysis in the dye bath (British patent 200 873), as well as dyeing processes with insoluble dyes in a highly dispersed state (British patents 219349 and 224077).
It has now been found that cellulose acetate can be mixed with azo dyes from unsulfonated diazo compounds and sulfonated coupling components which the sulfo groups are converted into sulfamide groups, can dye. These dyes have good affinity for cellulose acetate fibers and also in general a sufficient water solubility to make their use 11 color baths from the usual Make composition possible.
An older German patent makes the use of azo dyes, which contain a sulfamide group in the diazo component, for dyeing acetate silk-protected. The present invention is limited to azo dyes containing sulfamide groups - Contained in the coupling components in place of the sulfo groups.
The sulfamide dyes can be obtained in a known manner for example, in the case of an acidic dye, the sulfonic acid groups in sulfamide groups by treatment with phosphorus pentachloride and subsequent treatment with ammonia can be converted, or the dyes can be made from the components synthetically produce that already have the required sulfainide group.
Example Acetyl cellulose is colored red-orange using a dye whose probable constitution which is prepared by combining diazobenzene with r-naphthol-3: 8-disulfamide in the following manneri% of the dye and z to 2% of formic acid or sulfuric acid are added to the dye bath at 75 ° C. The cellulose acetate fiber is introduced into the bath and dyed at this temperature for half an hour. It is then washed and dried.
