Bei der Reinigung oder Trennung von Ölen werden vielfach Verfahren benutzt, die ohne Destillation durch Extraktion oder Trennung mit Hilfe von Lösungsmitteln durchgeführt werden, z. B. die Entsäuerung von Ölen mit Hilfe von Alkoholen. Entparaffinierung von Teeren mit Aceton, die Raffinat ion von Schmierölen oder Isolierölen mit Hilfe von Methanol USW. B. aus Methylalkohol und Kchlenoxyd sehr leicht gewonnen werden kann; infolge seines niedrigen Siedepunkts läßt es sich sehr einfach von denExtrakten abtrennen. Das Methylformiat kann auch in wasserhaltiger Form angewendet werden.
