Es ist bei dieser Anordnung nicht unbedingt erforderlich, daß ein vollständiger Kurzschluß erzielt wird, sondern es genügt, wenn ein nicht gar zu großer Widerstand zwischen die beiden Verbindungspunkte angeschlossen wird. Der Widerstand der Zuleitung ist also in diesem Falle nicht von so erheblicher Bedeutung als bei der Anordnung nach dem Hauptpatent. Die Verbindung wird zweckmäßig über den Fahrschalter des führenden Triebwagens vorgenommen. Durch diese Verbindung wird im geführten Triebwagen ein Stromkreis je eines Motors über die Erregung des eigenen Motors hergestellt, und dadurch schwächt sich beim Umkehren der Drehrichtung selbsttätig das Feld, bis die Motoren vollkommen spannungslos sind.
