Description

Manufacture of base-exchanging substances In patent specification 462 147 describes a method by means of which it succeeds, in itself not or only insufficiently base-exchanging substances into economically successful base-exchanging ones To convert substances.

It was further found that of the great number of those under consideration here coming substances those are particularly advantageously applicable, which are in are in a completely or partially glassy state by nature or in a such-have-been convicted. Substances that are particularly suitable are eruptive or of volcanic origin, including Effluent rocks and thus geological or petrographic contiguous other rocks, such as B. Lava, basalts, slag, trass. Particularly These substances have proven to be beneficial when they are either naturally in one porous states are, such. B. pumice stone, tuff (pumice stone tuffe, basalt tuffe, Phonolittuffe !, or converted into one (e.g. by blowing in Air, steam, their mixtures or the like). For example, one succeeds in finding suitable Grain size brought pumice stone with alkali silicate solutions, for example soda water glass solutions - (Potash, Kalinatron water glass), expediently treated under pressure at elevated temperature, a very excellent, very stable, base-exchanging agent for water softening and can be used for all other related purposes.

For example, if 50 parts of the volume are heated to a grain size of I to 0.3 min brought pumice stone with about 50 to 100 parts of technical water glass solutions, spec. Weight 1.35 in an autoclave at about 15 atm. to about zoo '' C for z hours, in this way, after washing, a product is obtained that is about forty to eighty times as much Able to soften a quantity of water of about 10 'hardness.
