Description

Photographic attenuators, made from blood liquor salt and rhodanammonium Among the known attenuators for photographic plates is also such a solution, consisting of red blood liquor salt and rhodanammonium, has been proposed or been used. In this form, however, it does not work uniformly; even the blue discoloration which occurs is bothersome, although such a weakening effect is opposite the similar Farmer's attenuator has the advantage of greater durability. The above-described invention overcomes the shortcomings of the above-described rhodanammonium blood liquor salt attenuator by adding potassium bromide on the one hand, whereby a regular effect is achieved, and by adding ammonia on the other hand, which avoids the blue coloration. It is well known that silver bromide is most soluble in rhodanammonium, considerably more like other halogen silver compounds or ferricyanide silver. The addition of potassium bromide causes! an immediate conversion of the ferricyanide salt formed into bromide silver, its easy solubility in rhodanammonium then becomes the regular one described Action of the attenuator aids. It is well known that ferricyanide salts interact by forming Berlin blue. This is the reason why the above Attenuator when using or standing for a long time turns very dark and so on makes work difficult. The present invention avoids the darkening through Addition of ammonia, which apparently causes the formation of Berlinder blue is avoided. In any case, the attenuator remains uncolored or only shows the well-known yellowish rhodan color. The addition of. But ammonia has other advantages, in particular that it avoids the formation of hydrogen cyanide or potassium cyanide. will. Otherwise this occurs with the mentioned attenuator if it stands for a long time, as a result of which it increases considerably in toxicity and due to the well-known cyange smell in. processing is a nuisance.
