Membran für Schallapparate Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 29. August 1926 ab Membrane for sound devices Patented in the German Empire on August 29, 1926
In the formation of membranes for sound equipment, e.g. B. for loudspeakers, it is generally important that the movement caused by an essentially punctiform force is transmitted evenly to the largest possible area. A known solution to this problem is the so-called folding membrane shown in cross-section and in plan view in FIGS. 1 and 2. The exciting force acts at P; the edges AA are fixed. The most important property of this folding membrane is the constant transition from great rigidity at the points of the acting force to great mobility at the clamping points. However, the folding membrane has the disadvantage that it takes up a relatively large amount of space.
This disadvantage is avoided according to the invention by the design of the membrane shown in FIG. 3, for example, in cross section. It emerges from the folding membrane in that the vertical cross-sections through the folding membrane in the direction of the force P are maintained and transferred to a plane laid by the fastening edge AA.
The similarity in the effect of such a membrane with that of a folded membrane goes from the following consideration: If one moves the point P according to Fig. 1 or 2 in the direction the force by a small distance, all points of the membrane move essentially in the same direction. the The size of the displacements decreases too steadily after the clamping edges. Perpendicular to so on the straight lines of the membrane parallel to the folding edge, the displacements are up to relatively high movement speeds almost constant. This is because that the moments of inertia are cut out by planes parallel to the folding edge and to the force P. Elementary parts of the membrane in the vicinity of the folding edge are very large due to their great height, which is the thickness of the folding membrane in the direction of the applied force at the relevant points. In sections that are parallel to the direction of the attacking force, but perpendicular to those just considered, one has against it Moments of inertia, which are essentially determined by the small thickness of the membrane will. It is important for the functioning of the folded membrane that the Height of the elementary parts that determine the rigidity in the cross-sections parallel to the folding edge, decreases too steadily after the clamping edges; this creates pronounced natural vibrations avoided.
Die gemäß der Erfindung gebildete Membran kann man sich nun aus Elementarstreifen der oben angegebenen Art zusammengesetztThe membrane formed according to the invention can now be made up of elementary strips composed of the type indicated above

denken. So it has the same rigidity with regard to bending in this elementary strip; likewise the mobility of these strips parallel to the direction of the force P is similar to that of the folded membrane for the same reasons. There is also the constant transition from large moments of inertia to smaller ones towards the edge to the same extent.
With a double diaphragm according to Fig. 3 the notch of the membrane in the middle is of importance. If it weren't there, so were for the movement of the membrane parts parallel to the force in the middle of the membrane large moments of inertia can be effective.
Instead of the double membrane, a single membrane can also be used, as shown in Fig. 4 is shown for example in cross section. The new membrane is for acoustic receivers and transmitters (microphone, telephone), in particular for loudspeakers, but also for speaking machines and the like can be used.
