Process for the preparation of vat dyes The subject of patent 441 586 is a process for the preparation of vat dyes, which orders that one treats'. \ 7aphtbanthraebinone or its derivatives with anhydrous altiminium chloride. Violet-blue to blue dyes are obtained which are of technical importance because of their excellent fastness properties.
It has now been further found that it is advantageous to implement
in the presence of a solvent, such as. B. Phtlialäureanbydrid to make.
The dyes then form without any by-products. The unresponsive
Naphthanthraquinone is recovered and can be used directly in new smelters
will. Almost all of the applied quantity of phthalic acidic hydride is recovered.
B eispiele.Examples.
i. 4o Gewichtsteile Naphtl-lanthrachition und 2oo Gewichtsteile Phthalsäureanhydrid
165' Innentemperatur erhitzt. Man trägt 2oo Gewichtsteile Aluminiumchlorid in kurzer
in deutlichen Nadeln. In
und Seifen entsteht ein sehr echtes Violett.i. 40 parts by weight of naphthol-lanthrachite ion and 200 parts by weight of phthalic anhydride are expediently melted in a closed vessel and heated to an internal temperature of about 160 to 165 °. 200 parts by weight of aluminum chloride are introduced in a short time and the melt is kept for about 11 '1'. Hour to 165 '. -After cooling, the mass is decomposed with water and boiled, whereby the phthalic acid goes into solution, which is recovered by known methods. The residue is vat with N # atritimhydrosulfit and alkali and filtered. Only a very small amount of unlinkable substance remains. The vat is blown out and, when sucked off, delivers a mixture of dye and unchanged naphthianthraquinone, which is dried and powdered. The substance is extracted with solvents such as benzene or acetone, the dye remaining as a blue-violet powder. It crystallizes from xlitrobenzene in clear needles. In concentrated sulfuric acid it dissolves in a pure green color. It is only very slightly soluble in benzene, toluene, etc., with a blue color, but strong red fluorescence. The cotton is dyed dark red from a red vat. When vatting and soapy, a very real violet is created.
2. ioo Gewichtsteile fein gepulvertes Altiminiumchlorid werden mit
22 Gewichtsteilen trocknem Kochsalz zum Schmelzen erhitzt. Bei i5o' trägt man ein
Gemisch von 15 Gewichtsteilen -Naphtbanthrachinon mit 5 Gewichtsteilen
Benzophenon
wird.2. 100 parts by weight of finely powdered altiminium chloride are heated to melt with 22 parts by weight of dry common salt. At 150 'a mixture of 15 parts by weight of -naphtbanthraquinone with 5 parts by weight of benzophenone is introduced with thorough stirring and the temperature is kept at 155 to 165 for about three hours. After cooling, the mass is decomposed with water, boiled with dilute hydrochloric acid and sucked off after cooling. After the benzophenone has been dissolved out by alcohol, the residue is vat with sodium hydrosulfite and alkali and filtered. The vat is blown out and, when suctioned off, yields a mixture of dye and unchanged naphthanthraquinone, which is worked up further as described in Example i.
