Description

A u s f üb rungsbeispiel. Process for the production of sodium peroxide. The manufacture of sodium peroxide in two separate rooms, from those of the one to exothermic combustion of sodium, the other to the endothermic Oxidation of sodium oxide to sodium Stiperoxvd is used, offers particular difficulties opportunities. One of the difficulties is there in that with unrestricted access from dry air, the temperature in the space beyond the sintering point goes out what the per se desired it is impossible to turn iron reaction vessels because the initially emerging tritimox -, - d is contaminated by iron. For this reason one has so far steady Aluminum vessels for the production of the Sodium oxide used. -These are however delightfully more expensive than iron vessels and also in their durability by no means satisfactory. It has been found that the possibility existence exists. to use iron vessels, if through appropriate ke-eltiii- the air supply ensures that the temperature temperature in the sodium combustion chamber not up to the sintering temperature of the -Natritirnoxids can increase. In this Trap can create a porous, loose sodium oxide, without this in be attacked to a lovely degree, that is easy to do in a simple manner and completely to sodium superoxide can be dated. Also the overpass of sodium oxide in sodium peroxide can be carried out in iron apparatus will. If the The final product obtained remains in the process completely iron-free. A us f üb approximately, for example. The Oxvdationsraum ' its arrangement enables extensive heat exchange light, consists of a flat, wrought-iron a bowl of 170cm diameter and 30 cm deep, over which an iron bell 8o cm in height is put over. In didser About 8kg of molten Na- trium ignited and the air access during the incineration in such a way regulates that the operation does not take place before: 2o hours which has ended. Due to the slow passage the combustion is carried out temperature prevailing in the combustion chamber kept proportionately low, and one gets a porous, iron-free sodium oxide, wel- clasped in a also made of iron easy to place an oxidation room high quality, iron-free sodium peroxide can oxidize.
