Description

Si0= 7o Gewichtsprozente, K.0 8 Gewichtsprozente, \a,0 2 Gewichtsprozente, B=03 to Gewichtsprozente, Ba0 to Gewichtsprozente. Bei sehr hohem Borsäuregehalt wählt man zweckmäßig das Verhältnis von Kalium- zu Natriumoxyd in der -Nähe von 7 : 1.Glasses for insulation purposes, the silica, potassium oxide, sodium oxide and contain at least one bivalent or trivalent metal oxide. It is known, that the electrical conductivity also of silica, potassium oxide, sodium oxide and at least one bivalent or trivalent metal oxide containing glasses essentially is due to their alkaline content and that in particular sodium oxy (1 a very unfavorable influence on (which has electrical conductivity. For this reason it made sense to fuse glasses for insulation purposes, with those as flux only potassium oxide is used. According to the invention, it was established that such glasses containing only potassium oxide as alkali metal can be found in their electric glasses Properties can be improved by removing a certain amount of the potassium oxide replaced with sodium oxide for best results; H. the greatest insulation capacity is achieved when in the silica, potassium oxide, sodium oxide and at least one bivalent or trivalent metal oxide-containing glass has the ratio of potassium oxide to sodium oxide is within the limits of 7: 1 to 3: 1, the ratio being these two are influenced to a certain extent by the other components of the glass will. It is therefore used in glasses for insulation purposes, for. B. for the incandescent lamp industry, make sure that the ratio of alkali metals is within the specified limits is, the more so if there is a need for the introduction length of alkalis as a flux to achieve a minimum of conductivity. The following is an example of such a glass Compilation given: Si07 65 percent by weight, K = O 12 percent by weight, Na = O 3 percent by weight, Pb0 2o percent by weight: Another suitable glass has about the composition. Si0 = 7o percent by weight, K.0 8 percent by weight, \ a, 0 2 percent by weight, B = 03 to percent by weight, Ba0 to percent by weight. With a very high boric acid content it is expedient to choose the ratio of potassium to sodium oxide in the vicinity of 7: 1.
