Device for measuring small changes in capacitance. It is known,
a capacitor, the capacitance changes of which are to be measured, into a
electrical oscillation circuit and its waves with a constant frequency
to overlay. The frequency of the beat wave is then a very sensitive one
Measure of the required change in capacity.
According to the invention, the achievable accuracy of the measurement is thereby
increased that a hot cathode tube to generate the required vibrations
is used with oxide cathode. The emission current of such a cathode tube is
namely, considerably more independent of the strength of the heating current than tubes with other tubes
Hot cathodes, and it has been shown that with the great sensitivity of the measuring method
the change in the heating current has a disruptive effect on the results.
dargestellt. Eine Glühkathodenröhre i (Abb. i) dient als Schwingungserzeuger.
a, deren Änderungen gemessen werden sollen.
A circuit for carrying out the invention is shown in the drawing
shown. A hot cathode tube i (Fig. I) serves as a vibration generator. the
The frequency of the generated vibrations depends on the capacitance of the capacitor
a, the changes of which are to be measured. The vibrations generated are through
the turns 3 are transferred to the turns 4 by means of a transformer. Another too
switched vibration generator 5 transmits the vibrations generated by the
Turns 6 on turns 7. The vibrations generated here are constant,
since the capacitance of the capacitor 8 is invariable. The turns q. and 7 lie
in the same circuit, and the waves arising from the interaction of the two
are rectified by the cathode tube 9 and to excite an oscillation circuit
used, which consists of the self-induction io and the capacitance i i. the more the
Beat wave supplied by the tube 9 with the natural frequency of the
io and i i coincide with the existing oscillation circuit, the stronger the
Current flowing in the oscillation circuit io, ii, the more the measuring instrument beats
1a off. Its deflection is therefore a measure of the number of 13 beats
and therefore also for the capacitance of the capacitor z. the greater the number of vibrations
of the waves generated by the cathode tubes i and 5, and the more these oscillation numbers
agree with each other, the greater the sensitivity. Only by
that according to the invention in the cathode tubes i and 5 oxide cathodes used
will,
the attainable sensitivity can also really be used.
Fig.2 shows another circuit that is suitable for performing the method. The capacitance, the size or change of which is to be measured, is denoted by 2 '. The "beat waves, which arise from the union of the vibrations of the transmitters i and 5, are rectified in a hot cathode tube 9 and passed through the coil io, just as in the circuit according to Fig. I. The coil 3 0 is coupled to this coil, the forms an oscillating circuit with the coil 31 and the capacitor 32. The natural frequency of this oscillating circuit is adjusted so that the incoming beat frequency lies on the rising or falling branch of the resonance curve, so that with small frequency changes of the beat wave considerable amplitude changes occur in the oscillating circuit Coil 31, a coil 35 is excited, which is connected to a hot cathode tube 33. The vibrations amplified in this tube are rectified in the hot cathode tube 34 and fed to the measuring instrument or oscillograph the coil io as well as with the coil 35 only go e coupled so that the neighboring circuits can not have a dampening effect on it. As a result, its resonance curve becomes very steep and thus its sensitivity to frequency changes is very great.
The advantage of the device described over the known
Method for measuring capacitance is that the with the help of the superposition
achievable high accuracy due to small changes in the heating current strength
being affected.
