Beim Schachtabteufen sowie in Grubenbauten begegnen dem Bergmann oft, insbesondere im Salz- und Ölbergbau, den Betrieb störende Ansammlungen von Laugen. Diese Salzlösungen kommen meistens in Rissen, Klüften oder Hohlräumen vor und gefährden den Schacht bnv. den Grubenbau. "Zur Beseitigung bzw. zur Unschädlichmachung dieser Flüssigkeitsansamtnlungen wird vielfach das Zementier- oder das Tiefk:iltegefrierver fahren angewendet. Es ist auch bekannt, auf die Salzlaugen einwirkende Chlormagnesium- und Chlorcalciumlösungen einzuführen. Diese sollen bei den bekannten erfahren eine Ausscheidung der Salze oder von Gips herbeiführen. Weiterhin ist bereits vorgeschlagen worden, durch nacheinander in wasserführendes Gebirge eingeführte Lösungen einen -Niederschlag zu erzeugen und als eine dieser Lösungen eine Wasserglaslösung zu verwenden.
