Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of invention
The electronic control unit with the features of the main claim allows a simple way reliable monitoring from the control unit and power amplifier existing system responsible for continuous function control Such a safety-relevant device is essential. It is particularly advantageous that in the process in the one ignition circuit forming power amplifier contained resistors in the order from 0 to about 10 ohms with a comparatively high accuracy of about ± 160 Milliohm detectable are. Furthermore, the capacity of the ignition circuit capacitor also with big ones Accuracy can be measured, with both measurements largely independent of parasitic Inductors of ignition are that connect the power amplifier to the controller itself. Farther can all possible in practice Short styles on the ignition wires and on the ignition element the power amp, both battery voltage and ground safely be recognized without doing so the risk of a false trip through the measuring process itself exists. Furthermore allows the inventive electronic control unit the detection of shunts between the ignition wires itself or in parallel with the ignition circuit capacitor.

- 1. Short circuit detection between the line ZK + and the supply voltage VCC or ground by measuring the voltage on the line ZK +. Furthermore, this also shunts between the lines ZK +, ZK- or parallel to that in the final stage
1b recognizable in series with the ignition element RP arranged capacitor CP. It has been assumed that the switching elements S2 and S3 have been opened long since the last measurement. The one in the final stage1b Capacitor CP connected in series with firing element RP could thereby be charged to voltage level VCC via resistors R2 and R4. Since the measurement is carried out cyclically in a fixed measuring grid, it is always ensured that the capacitor CP is fully charged. The voltage on the ZK + line is across the resistor R1 at the input terminal20 the ADC of the microcomputer2 at. Now the following three cases can occur: 1.1 The voltage at the ZK + line is essentially 5 volts (potential of VCC). It follows that the final stage1b is operational and that there is no short circuit. 1.2 The voltage at the ZK + line is below the potential of VCC. It can be concluded that a short circuit of the ZK + line to ground or to a shunt between the lines ZK +, ZK- or parallel to the capacitor CP. 1.3 The voltage on line ZK + is above the potential of VCC. It can be concluded that a short circuit of the ZK + line to the positive pole of the vehicle voltage. The very dangerous short circuits between the ignition element RP and the capacitor CP to the positive pole of the vehicle voltage or to the ground terminal are reliably detected in this measurement, which also here on the resistance of the ignition element RP, the potential of the ZK + line according to the above-mentioned three cases is changed. If the aforementioned errors occur, then it can be prevented by preventing all further measuring operations with certainty that dangerous high currents flow through the ignition element RP. - 2. Measurement of the ohmic resistance in the final stage
1b , In this measurement, the whole, in the final stage1b existing ohmic resistance determined. This consists essentially of the resistance of the ignition element RP, the resistances of the lines ZK + and ZK- and the necessary connectors together. It is assumed that the capacitor CP, as shown in the figure in3 is clarified, to a voltage of about 5 volts (equivalent to the potential VCC) is charged. For the initiation of the measurement of the ohmic resistance in the final stage1b the switching element S3 is first actuated and closed for a time t5. After a waiting time tv1 and the switching element S2 is actuated and closed for a time t1 and then opened again. During this time t1, the capacitor CP is partially discharged via the ignition element RP, the inductance LP and the resistor R3. Due to different line lengths and different plug connections, the value of the inductance in practice may vary between about 2 microhenries and 12 microhenries. The resistance R3 and the time interval t1 are expediently dimensioned in practice so that the resistance measurement is almost independent of the size of the inductance LP. In this measurement, make sure that the ignition element RP is neither activated by current flow nor permanently damaged. The one in the on the potential VCC charged capacitor CP is on the order of about 6 microjoules. However, since the so-called "allfire" ignition energy of ignition elements RP used in practice is on the order of about 3.7 millijoules, the ignition element is only loaded with a energy value that is more than 600 times lower during the measurement. "Allfire" ignition energy refers to the energy value necessary to ignite the ignition element RP with certainty. A pre-damage of the ignition element RP can not occur, since the discharge current of the capacitor CP provided in the output stage is limited by the resistor R3 to very low values and, moreover, the discharge time t1 is selected to be extremely short. As a result, in the ignition element RP never critical current densities that could lead to a pre-damage, achieved. After a short settling time, the RC combination of the final stage arises1b a stable voltage, which now via the resistor R1 and after implementation in the ADC (analog-to-digital converter = analog-to-digital converter) from the microcomputer2 can be measured. The residual voltage now measured on the capacitor CP is a measure of the ohmic resistance of the output stage1b , Since fluctuations in the capacity of the output stage are directly included in the resistance measurement, this measurement result must, if necessary, be corrected after the capacitance measurement, if necessary. A suitable correction method will be described below. In preparation for the subsequent capacitance measurement, the switching element S2 is closed again for the time t2. As a result, the capacitor CP is within the final stage1b continue to unload. Finally, the switching element S3 is opened again after the closing time t5. - 3. Measurement of the Capacitance of the Capacitor CP: This capacitance measurement expediently follows directly on the above-described resistance measurement and is used in relation to the in
4 illustrated diagrams explained in more detail. First, the switching element S3 is closed for a time t6, which has the consequence that the ZK - line is connected to the ground terminal. Also, the switching element S2 is closed and held in a closed state for a period of time t3. As a result, the capacitor CP is completely discharged. After the opening of the switching element S2, ie after the expiration of the time t3, the capacitor CP is slowly charged via the resistor R2. Since the resistance of the resistor R2 is chosen to be much larger than the resistance of the ignition element RP, the resistance of the ignition element RP plays no role in this measurement and can be neglected. Also, the inductance LP has no influence on the measurement process, since it is a relatively slow charging process. After a predefinable charging time t1, the voltage at the ignition element is now measured. It is a direct measure of the capacity of the ignition circuit capacitor. Following this measurement, the switching element S3 is opened again after expiration of the time t6. - 4. Short circuit detection on the ZK line against the positive pole of the vehicle voltage or ground. For this measurement, which is based on the illustration of
5 10, a short circuit between the ZK line and the positive pole of the vehicle voltage on the one hand or the ground terminal on the other hand can be detected without the need for another ADC input for measuring the voltage on the ZK line. The measuring method is based on a recharging of the capacitor CP when it is grounded on the CC side via a small internal dynamic resistance. During this measurement process, the switching element S3 is constantly open. By contrast, the switching element S2 is closed only for a comparatively short period of time t4 and then opened again. After the opening of the switching element S2, characteristic voltage profiles can be detected on the ZK + line, which allow conclusions to be drawn about the respective state. The occurring different voltage curves are exemplary in5 .6 and7 shown. In5 First, the voltage curve is shown on the ZK + line, if there is no short circuit between the ZK line and the positive pole of the vehicle voltage or ground. The initially substantially constant voltage at the ZK + line breaks down briefly during the closing time t4 of the switching element S2, and then relatively quickly rise again to the previously existing value. In the indicated measurement time tm, the voltage at the ZK + line has substantially reached again the value existing before the switching operation of the switching element S2, which is of the order of magnitude of VCC. In the graphs according to6 and7 At the measuring time tm, a voltage substantially below the potential VCC is detected on the line ZK +. As a result, a short circuit of the ZK line against the positive pole of the vehicle voltage or ground can be detected. However, a distinction as to whether the detected short circuit exists between the ZK line and the positive pole of the vehicle voltage or between the ground line is not possible because the transient charges of the capacitor CP can not be distinguished from each other. - 5. Correction of the measured resistance As already described in connection with the resistance measurement, the result can be the measurement very much of the capacity of the capacitor CP in the final stage
1b be dependent, since the measuring principle is based on a partial discharge of this capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to correct the resistance value based on the measured capacitance of the ignition circuit capacitor. This correction is expediently carried out on the basis of a mathematically or metrologically established correction table which contains corresponding correction values. Since such a correction table for positive or negative capacitance deviations from the nominal value of the capacitance of the capacitor CP is constructed essentially symmetrically, it is quite sufficient to calculate the values of the correction table, starting from the nominal value of the capacitor, for only one fault direction (for example for excessively large capacitance values). set up. The correction values for the other error direction (ie in the direction of too low capacitance values) then result from a simple change of sign of the correction values listed in the table. The values of the correction table are expediently stored in a memory area of the microcomputer2 stored.
Around one possible accurate measurement of resistance and capacitance values, it is necessary to the influence of inductance LP on the measurements as possible to keep low. On the other hand allowed but the ignition properties under no circumstances be adversely affected during the activation of the airbag.

Also the switching times of the switching element S2, in particular in the Resistance measurement has an influence on it have how much the measurements are affected by the parasitic inductance LP. The Invention allows a complete monitoring the ignition circuits an airbag control unit with AC ignition with a comparatively low additional hardware expenditure. When additional Components are essentially only the four resistors R1 to R4 necessary. By simple switching operations of the switching elements S2 and S3 with subsequent Voltage measurements can all essential components of the ignition circuits are monitored and monitored within the short circuits as well shunts get discovered. For particularly critical short circuits, in particular in case of short circuits to the positive pole of the vehicle voltage can be suppressed all other measuring operations thus significantly reducing the risk of false tripping. Since the switching times, in particular of the switching element S2, very short chosen are and the discharge resistor R3 is relatively high impedance exists even in the most unlikely Case of non-detection of a short circuit no danger of Fehlauslösug the ignition element, as long as the vehicle voltage the allowable value of about 20 volts does not significantly exceed.
