Abstract

A household paper or paper for hygiene (toilet paper 1) consists of at least one, preferably two to four, layers (2, 3, 4) of tissue paper, wherein the paper is provided with an embossment (5, 5') in particular for adhesion of the layers. The paper (toilet paper 1) is after-calendered subsequent to its embossment and optional adhesion of the layers.

Description

The invention relates to a household or hygiene paper according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method for increasing the softness and Reduction in the packing volume of such papers.

It is known to prefer household or sanitary papers from at least one wise to make two to four layers of tissue paper, using the product is embossed. In the case of single and multiple layers, this imprinting is necessary papers have a surface structure that gives them a pleasant softness Paper conveyed. In the case of multi-ply household or hygiene paper The embossing also serves to arrest the layers of the individual tissue pa pier locations. An example of such a household or hygiene paper and its manufacture is specified in DE 39 42 536 C2.

Regarding the usage properties of household or hygiene paper different requirements are made. So hygiene papers like for example toilet paper, handkerchiefs or facial tissues on the one hand if possible be soft, but also have a certain strength. Out economic and ecological considerations that have become more and more recent Consumer goods in general should increase in importance, and consequently also Household or hygiene paper, generally packable to save space be to packaging material as well as transport, storage and shelf space in the Saving points of sale. With the saving of packaging material read The manufacturers of such papers are also aware of the waste management law reduce the disposal costs imposed (keyword: "Green Dot").

Based on the problems described, the object of the invention based on improving a household or hygiene paper so that it at ge increased softness and practically unchanged firmness Has packing volume. In procedural terms, the Erfin increase the softness of household or hygiene paper Pack volume can be reduced.

This object is achieved by the in the characterizing part of claim 1 and 3 respectively specified features solved. It was found that the ang Post-calendering of the paper after its embossing and if necessary Layer arrest with practically insignificant loss of strength on the one hand significant increase in softness and on the other hand a considerable reduction thickness of the paper. The leap in softness can be the best way to describe it is that a manufactured in the usual way Medium softness toilet paper just by re-calendering one Receives softness that corresponds to that of a facial tissue. With regard to Vo Lumen reduction can be achieved by moderate calendering, for example Toilet paper with the same number of sheets and thus paper length the roll volume men up to 50%. This means that with the same roles and thus Packaging volume up to twice as much toilet paper in a large pack can be accommodated.

Claims 2 and 4 give advantageous ranges of values for the line printing of Calender rolls. Such line pressure values can already be inherent weight of conventional calender rolls can be achieved. For the higher line pressure values within the specified range are sufficient to apply the Ka lander rolling through pressure cylinders with a moderate cylinder pressure below 1 bar.

Further features, details and advantages of the invention are as follows the description can be seen in which an embodiment based on the attached drawing is explained in more detail.

The drawing shows in a schematic manner the structure of an inventive Toilet paper and its re-calendering.

As is clear from the drawing, an inventive toilet paper 1 consists of three layers 2 , 3 , 4 tissue paper, which has a weight per unit area of about 15 g / m². The upper layer 2, on the one hand, and the two lower layers 3, 4, on the other hand, are each provided with knob-shaped embossments 5 , 5 ', each of which extends from the top 6 or underside 7 of the paper and extends concavely inwards. At the tips 8 of the embossing 5 , the underside of the paper 7 , the embossing causes the layers 3, 4 on the one hand and the layer 2 on the other hand to become attached.

Due to the mutual offset of the knob-shaped embossments 5 , 5 'in the layers 2 or 3 and 4 , no roughening knobs protrude from the paper top 6 or bottom 7 , so that such toilet paper 1 is already relatively soft. As can further be seen from the enlarged detailed diagram in the attached figure, such a conventionally produced toilet paper 1 has a relatively large thickness due to the bulging thanks to the embossments 5 , 5 '.

Die damit erzielbaren Liniendruckwerte liegen etwa im Bereich von 10 bis 30 N/cm.According to the invention it is now provided that such a step up to this manufacturing step conventionally produced toilet paper 1 through a pair of calender rollers 9 with an upper pressure roller 10 and a lower counter roller 11 to be subjected to a post-calendering. The Kalan derwalzenpaar 9 is completely customary and therefore requires no further explanation. Suffice it to say that the pressure roller 10 works under the load of its own weight or is acted upon by the two pressure cylinders 12 , 13 with relatively low cylinder pressures p of less than 1 bar against the counter roller 11 . The line pressure values that can be achieved in this way are approximately in the range from 10 to 30 N / cm.

As a result of this recalendering of the toilet paper 1 , its strength remains practically unaffected, but its softness is increased and its thickness is reduced so significantly that significantly more toilet paper sheets 15 fit on a toilet paper roll 14 with an unchanged standard diameter D.

The following table shows these qualitative statements quantitatively. The measurements were made using commercially available toilet paper carried out by the applicant. The toilet paper products were used "BESS Perfect" (2-layer), "BESS Exclusive" (3-layer), and "BESS First Class"  (4-ply). These types of toilet paper were uncalendered or after one Post-calendering was examined with a line pressure of approximately 20 N / cm. It the breaking load was dry in the longitudinal and transverse machine directions the relationship between the number of sheets and diameter when winding the toilet paper on conventional rolls measure up. The softness was assessed using a standard panel test.

The measurements led to the results listed in the following table nits.
