Description
Process for the manufacture of wheels from fiber fabrics. The invention refers to. on wheels made of layered webs, e.g. -B. Canvas or canvas. The layers of fabric are bonded with a binding agent, z. B. a phenol = condensation product, coated and then in a form pressed together so that a solid body of homogeneous nature is created. The invention is intended to be more economical in the production of such Wheels can be achieved through material savings and easier production work. There the cost of the fabric used # 'accounts for the vast majority of the total manufacturing cost form, it is important that the fabric is tailored so that one at a given Size of the wheel to be produced uses as little material as possible. With attention the lower limit for r determined by the strength properties of the wheel the amount of the raw material becomes a reduction in manufacturing cost thereby achieved that when cutting 'the lengths of fabric .a waste is avoided as much as possible will. This aim is achieved by the method according to the invention, whereby another advantage due to the simplification of the composition of the individual layers results in the form.

The drawing shows the various stages in the manufacture of a wheel shown. Figures z and 2 are views of a cut strip of fabric; Fig.3 shows how the strip can be used to form a single or helically continuous Layer is merged; Fig.q. essentially resembles Fig. 2 with the The difference is that here .by cutting away a piece of fabric, there is space for a metal one Hub has been created; Fig. 5 shows a Preßformrn, with the rings, wreaths or Wheel discs can be manufactured; Fig.6 shows cutting rollers in perspective Opinion; Fig.7 and 8 are sections through two different wheel blanks; Fig. 9 shows a change in cutting the pieces.
One can start from a narrow band a (fig. R) made of canvas or canvas or a wide sheet of cloth b (fig. 6). It is usually advantageous to cover the fabric with the binding agent, bakelite or an equivalent material, before cutting it. Cutting is easier if the impregnation with the binding agent is carried out before cutting, since the fibers are then connected, so that the tendency of the material to fray at the edges is counteracted. The fibrous web b or a single strip a is cut so that complementary pairs of connected chains. from equilateral or isosceles triangles c. The triangles C are connected at the base line by a few threads, preferably warp threads. Through this type of cutting, firstly, a good utilization of the material and, secondly, easier assembly is achieved. The size of the triangles and the cutting angle α are chosen so that the side edges of the triangles lying together touch each other when the cut band is folded into a disk as shown in Fig. 3. In the embodiment of Figure 3, seven triangles together form a full disk. In this case, the warp threads can either be separated after every seventh triangle or, without separation, the whole band can be piled up in helical form. To do this, use a shape such as the one shown in Figure 5. Such a shape consists of the metal ring d and a lid and a bottom part, which are not shown. In Fig. 6 a cutting device is shown which simultaneously cuts a web of fabric into strips and the strips into two serrated bands of the shape of Fig. 1. This cutting device is made up of a pair of suitably shaped rollers e and f, at least one of which is driven by a power source. The role has cutting edges g, the size and shape of which is selected according to the respective needs. It is beneficial to have the. the strips holding the individual triangles together are so narrow. as possible, but still avoids a separation of the triangles during the work process through a sufficiently secure connection. If the length of fabric exceeds the usual width or thickness, small parts are cut out to avoid excessive bulges or folds at the corners for (Fig. 3), as Fig. 9 shows. The Aufelnanderschich device of the discs is expedient to make so that the sections in one position the joints between the sections. , the abutting layers above or below the bar overlap.
An improvement of the above-beschriehen.en method can be can still be done by making the base line of each triangle in the shape of a circular arc, whereby the radius of curvature corresponds approximately to the radius of the finished blank (Fig. 2). This rounding off. causes little waste and also reduces that Labor and waste when turning the finished blank. When the wheel is a Metal bushing to reinforce the hub should be given, so there is room for them created by removing small pieces from the tip of each section, such as in fig.q. you can see; this can be done when the tape is cut, or first then happen when the cut ribbon is placed in the mold. The blank can have parallel outer surfaces as in Fig. 7 or it can have a proportionate have weak wheel centers with a thickened wheel rim and a thickened hub as in Fig. B. The thickening of the wheel can be achieved by inserting intermediate layers reach at the outer edge. It is advantageous to leave full layers and intermediate layers alternate with each other, so that the resistance is increased. The hub coverage You can also use the leftovers to cut the tapes.
After the layers are brought into shape in appropriate numbers they are heated to make the binder liquid. Then the Mass compressed by pressure at a higher temperature, so that the fibers stick together; the binder then hardens, and the fibers are pressed together in their own Condition preserved. This method, which is known per se, follows on from those described Manufacturing steps on and undergoes no change due to the invention.
