Description
Process for impregnating vegetable, animal and mineral Fibers, yarns and fabrics. It is known to use tissues such as. B. canvas, windbreakers, Horse rugs, rucksacks, etc., to be made waterproof by tnan them first through baths of acetic or sulfuric clay and then through 6- up to 8 percent soap solutions in which paraffin, Japan wax, stearin, resin soap and similar substances are emulsified, and that if the goods are particularly easy to grip should fail, joiner's glue solutions are also added to the soap solution. It is also known that fabrics can be waterproofed with alkaline solutions of brown leather can impregnate, by the fact that the impregnated with such leather solutions Substances by filling baths of z. B. Sends alumina salts, which the brown leather on fill the fiber as an insoluble, highly water-repellent precipitate.
Since these leather impregnations have the natural light brown color of the However, they are not for all purposes.
Tonerdehydrat ab, so erhält man hellfarbige Lösungen. Dissolve chrome or alum leather in aqueous alkalis and filter the precipitated precipitates of chromium oxide hydrate or alumina hydrate from, see above light-colored solutions are obtained. However, these are not readily accepted by the Alumina salts filled and therefore do not give a durable impregnation.
It has now been shown that these light-colored solutions of chromium and alum leather immediately lead to durable, light-colored impregnations if you the solutions mixed with resin glue and then paraffin in the hot mixture, Stearin and similar substances emulsified that do not separate after cooling, but form a white-yellow, ointment-like mass that reappears in the heat dissolves smoothly. By arranging the cutting of some resin soap to the light colored ones Dissolving chrome and alum leather succeed in their emulsion with paraffin and the Excretion and simultaneous suppression by filling salts, e.g. B. acetic acid or sulfuric clay, so that in this way white or light-colored, durable Impregnations can be obtained.
Compared to the soap solutions, which are normally used for impregnation used «-erden, the light-colored resolutions of chrome leather are extraordinary cheap and offer economic progress. Example. Chrome leather waste is removed under pressure and heat in aqueous alkalis, filtered from the green-gray precipitate of chromium oxide hydrate, the solution evaporates to 5o percent dry matter, mixed 8o percent parts by weight - this hot, 5 percent solution with 2o percent parts by weight 5 percent Resin glue and emulsified in the hot mixture 10 parts by weight of paraffin.
This mixture is used instead of soap baths for impregnation.
To carry out the impregnation, the fabrics and textiles are pulled first by a bath of 6 to 10 percent acetic acid clay and after drying this stain through the chrome leather resin glue paraffin emulsion, which causes on the fiber insoluble, water-repellent precipitates arise.
