Description

Retort for smoldering bituminous fuels. For the carbonization of fuels, carbonization in retorts has proven to be particularly suitable, since these provide an almost dust-free gas. By heating the retort on all sides, a good cooking of the fuel with a high throughput is achieved. This particular advantage has hitherto been opposed by the low durability of the retorts, which, because of their special design, great height, great length, small width, and partly with inwardly curved longitudinal and transverse ribs, tended to crack or warp. Both phenomena result in the retorts becoming unusable immediately, since in the first case the valuable carbonization gas escapes through the cracks or, during suction, the carbonization gas is contaminated by the heating gas entering the retort. In the second case, the retorts with inwardly curved ribs and side walls have a particularly unfavorable effect, because the inward bulging of the retorts is driven even further under the high heat exposure, which in addition to the risk of breakage, also prevents the cake from slipping. In addition, the unique cross-sectional shape of such a retort has an uneven Durchschwelen the cake in the wake * is influenced extremely unfavorable result of which the quality of the carbonization gases.

These inconveniences are eliminated by the present invention eliminated by providing the retorts with longitudinal and transverse ribs on the outside are, and that the transverse ribs in a curved shape increasing towards the middle of the wall run, and that the longitudinal ribs of the respective height at the crossing points with adapted to the transverse ribs. siiid.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing shown. Fig. I shows the retort in side view and partial longitudinal section.

Fig. 2 shows a section along the line D-E in Fig. I. the Retort A made of cast iron or cast steel carries on its outer side the transverse ribs B and the longitudinal ribs C. The transverse ribs B are curved in shape executed. The ribs are kept somewhat conical and at the point of attachment of the retort well rounded.
