Process for the production of clay and its salts. The present
The invention relates to a process for the production of clay and its salts from
Clay and similar raw materials containing alumina. It consists in that one
the clay in a known manner with acids disintegrates, the solution of the insoluble
Silica and other residues separate and then a separation of the iron
of the clay in such a way that the iron oxide is reduced to iron oxide
and then a precipitation of the clay in the form of basic sulphate with alkalis,
Ammonia, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate or aminonium sulfite.
Vorteilhaft arbeitet man stets
gefällte basische Aluminiumsulfat enthält auf a Mol. Al. 03 etwa i Mol. S03.
If you start from the sulfuric acid digestion, you get the desired one
Precipitation product immediately in good if the necessary conditions are met
filterable and easily washable form. When using the hydrochloric acid digestion
the presence of certain amounts of sulphates (e.g. ammonium sulphate) leads to the
same favorable result. Without complying with the required conditions falls
the basic aluminum sulfate, similar to what is known for aluminum hydroxide
is, in paste-like form, poorly filtering and therefore technically unusable
Shape. According to the present invention, however, it is possible to filter and filter well
Get washable precipitates if you either increase the precipitation
Temperature under pressure (13o to 14o ° corresponding to about 3 atm.) Or else,
which may be more useful, in a closed vessel even with ordinary ones
Pressure works as long as you take care of the presence of bicarbonate during the precipitation.
In both cases, the reaction components are expediently at ordinary temperature
stir well and then boil the mixture. One always works to advantage
with a small suitable reduction reserve and in the absence of air, so too
no reoxidation of the iron oxide occurs during precipitation and filtration. That so
Precipitated basic aluminum sulfate contains to a mol. Al. 03 about 1 mole S03. It
is free from iron and other contaminating salts and can be easily cleaned
Process further in a known manner on alumina or alumina sulphate. From the filtrate
the precipitation can after previous de-icing without difficulty
dissolved alkali or ammonium salts recovered «- earth.
