Description

Process for the preparation of a colloidal, water-soluble bismuth for injections. The use of insoluble bismuth compounds for injections poses dangers due to the formation of long-term deposits. Molecularly soluble Bismuth preparations have either a strongly acidic or alkaline reaction and practice therefore, even in oil emulsions, corrosive effects on living tissue. To both of them In order to avoid the above-mentioned problems, a colloidal bismuth was obtained strives. It turned out, however, that it is quite difficult to find a durable preparation to manufacture. This is probably due to the failure of the colloidal bismuth attributed to previous therapeutic attempts.

It has now been found that it is possible to obtain a stable in gel form, in Water-soluble bismuth colloid can be produced when using alkaline bismuth solutions with the exclusion of air in the presence of protective colloids and avoiding high Temperatures reduced with sodium hydrosulfite solution, the colloid with alcohol or similar precipitant precipitates and carefully dries.

Beispiel. Example. 400 g of Seignett salt were dissolved in 2 liters of water and igo cc of sodium hydroxide solution (i, 34) dissolved and zoo g of Bismutum subnitricum gradually added with heating. When solution has occurred, one adds', '21 water. From this stock solution if you prepare a larger = amount. 218o cc of this bismuth solution and x32o cc a g percent rubber solution together with 75 ccm sodium hydroxide solution (i, 34) in poured a 7 liter bottle and a solution of 365 cc sodium hydrosulfite added in 3400 cc of water. All solutions must be filtered clear. The bottle is closed and shaken slowly for an hour. The sol obtained in this way lasts for days can be kept in the air. To transfer it into the gel form, it is poured into a nozzle and adds 6450 cc of 87 percent alcohol while stirring. The gel is made with 58 percent Alcohol washed out four times to rid it of the entrained salts, and then painted on glass plates to dry. It contains about 40 percent bismuth, about 44 percent organic substances and is water soluble.
