Der Firnis ist für die verschiedensten Stoffe als Anstrich verwendbar, z. B. für Holz, Stein, Zement, Glas, Leder, Gewebe, und kann sogar für bestimmte Metalle Anwendung finden, da er sich leicht ausbreitet und in jeder gewünschten Konzentration durch einfaches Verdünnen mit Wasser hergestellt werden kann.
