b auseinandergehalten.Firing grate with groups of rods composed of several individual rods. The invention relates to grates for furnaces of all kinds. In industrial furnaces in particular, grate bars have already been combined into fixed groups of bars in order to achieve a better support at the ends of the bars than is possible with individual bars. The purpose of the invention is to create a grate of this type with the help of which it is possible to regulate the firing. According to the invention, this purpose is achieved in that the height of the bars is selected to be equal to the overall width of a fixed group of bars, so that the support heads of the group of bars have a square cross-section. In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown, namely Fig. T shows a group of grate bars in cross section, Fig. A the associated side view and Fig. 3 the associated plan, Fig. Q, a schematic representation of a part of a furnace on a smaller scale Scale. The grate bar A consists in a manner known per se of several individual bars a, which are combined to form a fixed group by screwing, riveting or welding. The rods a can be made of cast iron with cast-on connection points or of rolled iron. Here, two individual rods are always combined to form a group. The height of the individual rods a is chosen to be equal to the overall width of the rod group A, so that a square cross-section results at the heads of the rod group; At the connection points, the individual rods a are held apart by spacers b.
In the normal position of the groups of rods in the grate, the air slots between the individual rods a are open for the passage of air in the hitherto generally usual manner over the entire grate surface. But it happens that not the entire grate surface should be used, z. B. with central heating to save coal in autumn and spring, or with -industrial heating stoves to warm more on one side than on the other or more on the sides than in the middle. In these cases, with the grate bar of the invention, even during the operation of the furnace, part of the bar groups can be turned around by rotating around its longitudinal axis and thereby part of the grate can be completely closed (see the bars E1 marked with x in Fig. 4). . This makes it possible to regulate the firing as required and to save considerably on coal.
