Die Einwirkung von Säuren, insbesondere starker Salpetersäure, auf. die Zellulose der Pflanzenfasern bewirkt eine Verbesserung der Eigenschaften der Fasern. Auch die anderen 1?igenschaften des Gewebes, wie Schabfestigkeit, Zerreißfestigkeit und Scherfestigkeit, sind außerordentlich erhöht. Ferner ist die 1)urchlässigl:eit der so veredelten Gewebe für Wasser und Wind bedeutend verringert. Die so behandelten Textilien bieten mithin einen um ein Vielfaches besseren Witterungsschutz.
