Abstract

A stationary IC engine (1) such as a diesel engine or a gas engine has its exhaust gases directed into the combustion chamber of a coal-fired boiler (7) which is pref. of the travelling grate type. The diesel or gas engine (1) is used for driving an electricity generator (2) while the coal fired boiler (7) generates steam which drives a steam turbine (8) which drives a second electricity generator (9). The exhaust gases from the IC engine are mixed either with the primary combustion air or with the secondary combustion air or with both primary and secondary combustion air supplied to the boiler. USE/ADVANTAGE - Electricity generation by a method which increases the thermal efficiency of the plant and reduces the emission of harmful gases such as nitrous oxides.

Description

The invention relates to a stationary gas or diesel-fired Internal combustion engine. Such engines serve u. a. the drive of Generators. However, the operation is stationary combustion engines are particularly polluted with emissions. The combustion gases only develop in one place. That is why the environment is special burdened.

The invention is therefore based on the problem of nitrogen oxide pollution to reduce when operating stationary internal combustion engines. After Invention this is achieved in that the exhaust gases from the combustion motors are fed to a grate furnace. Is particularly suitable a moving grate firing.

The exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine can be supplied together with the primary or secondary air. It shows that in addition to the environmental relief from this measure, there is also energy saving and an improvement in the electricity indicator in relation to the combined process if the grate furnace also serves to generate electricity. Further advantages are savings in investment and operating costs, since, for example, the otherwise necessary catalyst for NO x reduction of the exhaust gases can be omitted.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown.

Beide Gebläse wirken auf eine Wanderrostfeuerung 7. 1 with a stationary diesel engine is designated. The diesel engine 1 operates a power generator 2 . Its exhaust gases are distributed on lines 3 and 4 , which flow into the intake capacities of fans 5 and 6 . The blower 5 is a primary air blower, the blower 6 is a secondary air blower. Both fans act on traveling grate firing 7 .

With the traveling grate firing 7 steam is generated, which drives a power generator 9 via a steam turbine 8 .

The exhaust gases from the traveling grate firing are released into the open via a fabric filter 10 , an exhaust gas blower 11 and a chimney 12 .
