Abstract

The ignition system for a multicylinder IC engine is based upon electronic units not requiring a mechanical distributor. The unit has a pair of ignition coils (10) each of which serves half of the cylinder plugs. The underside of the housing has connections to the plugs of two cylinders directly. Other connections to the remaining plugs (22,24) are made via leads (22,24). The housing (10) has a heat sink plate (32) of aluminium mounted on the top surface and this projects through an aperture in a plastic cover.
