Description

Process for making dye images from copper images. The present method of producing colored images, namely for the production of color photographs by the three-color process assumes from the fact that silver pictures are converted into copper pictures and the copper pictures with them basic dyes that do not stain gelatin. For these colorations dyes which contain a ring are particularly suitable. These are, for example for yellow thiobenzenyl dyes, for blue thiazines, for red pyronines, also safranines, Oxazines, acridine dyes.

Die nach dem Anfärben erhaltenen Bilder sind besonders für Bilder zur Betrachtung bei Tageslicht, insbesondere für Porträts geeignet, weil sie infolge einer mehr oder weniger starken Trübung und Undurchsichtigkeit der Schicht das Aussehen in künstlerischer Beziehung erhöhen.: One achieves the conversion of the silver pictures into the copper pictures in the usual way for copper toning, by adding roughly equal parts to 10 percent Solutions of copper sulphate and potassium ferricyanide and about 10 times the amount of potassium citrate used. Such a copper bath consists, for example, of 15 parts of copper sulfate, 115 parts of potassium citrate and 13 parts of potassium ferricyanide, all ingredients in 10 percent Solution. The images obtained after staining are especially for images for viewing in daylight, particularly suitable for portraits because they are a result of more or less severe cloudiness and opacity of the layer the appearance in increase artistic relationship.

It has been found that for projection purposes and the like. The matt image is not always suitable. The purpose of the present process is to create images to deliver, which as a result of high transparency on the projection screen in as possible bright colors appear. The procedure consists of having both the Copper compound as from the ferricyanide solution much less than that usual toning bath, but the amount of citric acid potassium maintains. The: amount of the copper compound and the ferric cyanide is 1/9 up to 1/3 of the usual amount. In any case, the amount must not exceed half the usual amount. The image obtained by the present method is seen already outwardly different from the one obtained with the normal toning. The picture appears as if it has been painted, although no paint has been applied and has the highest level of transparency with the strongest color effect. The execution takes place in the usual way.

It has also been shown that the transparency of the colored copper images can be increased still further, so that they result from a pure dye image no longer distinguish if one uses more potassium ferricyanide than copper, whereby however, it is necessary that the limit given above is maintained.
