Abstract

Process for restorative cultivation of soil areas and waste heaps, esp. contaminated areas and slopes from uranium mining, comprises applying to the ground areas and slopes a mixt. of the mucous-like waste material from the paper industry, chopped straw, water, suitable plant seeds and a nutrient substrate. USE/ADVANTAGE - The mixt. binds well onto the slopes and ground areas and covers the hazardous radioactive dust so that it cannot blow about. The paper waste weathers down to form humus and the plants seeds, opt. including grass and young trees, are held in place until they have taken root

Description

The object of the invention is to provide a method which eliminates the danger to the surfaces and tailings piles from radioactive dusts. From the state of the art, only the removal and safe depositing of the floor surfaces is known per se. However, since it is km 2 , that is, very large areas and tens of dumps, this type of decontamination is not possible.

This problem is solved by claim 1 and by Subclaims.

As is well known, Saxony and Thuringia considerable areas resulting from the mountain male extraction of uranium oxide, radioactively contaminated. An attempt to remove these areas is from the start doomed to fail because the areas are too large. Also bringing the stockpile material back into the shafts, is not possible. The only backup of the human Habitat before these radioactive substances is the Cover. This is relatively easy on horizontal surfaces, on the slopes of the slag heaps, however, with great difficulty connected because the heaps are 50-100 m high, are designed as a pointed cone and an angle of repose of 45 °. The special climatic conditions in the Circumference of the heaps, strong heating of the surface by Sun exposure up to 70 ° C on the surface leads to Winding up and radioactive dust clouds.

So stockpiles are extreme areas that are not different green yourself. The reason for this lies in the togetherness settlement of the stockpile material. The rock from deep can contain significant amounts of pyrite. This is because also called cat gold due to its shiny gold appearance sulfur-containing mineral weathered to sulfate in the air, which creates an extremely acidic soil environment makes life difficult for domestic plants. In this acidic environment, the concentration increases from the Ge stone released aluminum. Free aluminum acts as a cell poison for every plant that is on the Halde wants to settle.

In order to remedy this, attempts are to be made knows with mobile tanks, with a built-in stirrer plant in which a mixture of seeds, chopped Straw as mulch material, lime to reduce the soil acid, mineral fertilizer and water to an adhesive floor is prepared, which then with a kind of water cannon can be sprayed onto the stockpile at a distance of 50 m. In order to this wet sowing does not blow from the wind or from the first Rain is washed away, you add one to the mixture synthetic glue added to the seed applied bind to the heap.

But these attempts have so far had no acceptance led result.

By adding the high-fiber residues as well of geotextile, becomes a significantly better grip of the substrate reached. Because on the other side of the paper waste is partly organic, is a ver weather and thus a humus formation. Also the mineral components of the residual paper can can only be viewed as promoting growth.

For permanent coverage and greening of the stockpiles the slopes of the stockpile must be reached by serpentines Like construction roads are broken, so that individual slope segments are created which are then easier to edit. In order to avoid dust formation, permanent Moisture indispensable during the work process.

By the interaction of all components like geotextile, applied substrate with plants and grass seeds, as well of the young trees, a covering plant carpet is created who has a permanent hold in the slope slopes and through the Construction roads are also easy to control and maintain.
