Description

Process for the production of chlorine-rich products from sulphite pulp waste liquors or cellulose extracts made therefrom. Sulphite pulp waste liquor or from it Manufactured products have been used for tanning purposes for a long time used. The extracts used should be technically free of iron and lime and no longer contain harmful free acids. The cellulose extracts are used in the tannery for tanning because they get into the leather with great ease pull in and enable the tanning fabrics to bite through faster, furthermore than Mixed product in the color range and in the barrel, for retanning, as a filler and as a solvent for vegetable tanning extracts that are difficult to dissolve and thus easily dissolve. In all cases, the cellulose extracts only serve as an additive to other tanning agents, They cannot be used on their own as a tanning agent because they are only one Delivering tinny, unusable leather.

It has now been found that by treating the sulphite cellulose liquor or the extracts made from it with free chlorine to produce chlorinated products which have excellent Berber properties, so they do not can only be used as an additive like this, but also on its own for tanning can, whereby they result in a beautiful, brown, full-grip leather, which definitely is similar to leather obtained from vegetable tanning agents. The in the "Chemisches Zentralblatt" 19o6, page 1854, described, from sulphite pulp waste liquor with chlorinated lime and hydrochloric acid obtained compound of the formula C26 H29 Cl S0.2 is not identical to that obtained according to the present invention. While that compound is only 5.8 Contains percent chlorine and is almost insoluble in alcohol, according to the present invention made product 36 percent chlorine and dissolves with greatest Ease and completely in alcohol.

Beispiel. i oo kg Sulfitzellstoffablauge vom spez. Example. i oo kg of sulphite pulp waste liquor from spec. Weight will be 1.313 diluted with cool water and passed in chlorine while stirring as long as the same is still easily absorbed. The liquid heats up, becomes brown and brown finally a brown-red substance is deposited. This is filtered off and with Washed saline. The filtrate is treated further with chlorine and delivers more quantities. The residues are mixed with a little water and boiled. Here the mass melts temporarily, and! the light red-brown color becomes darker. It is allowed to cool, suctioned off and washed with Köch 'saline solution.

The product thus obtained dissolves easily in water, ethyl alcohol, Methyl alcohol. It is sparingly soluble in acetone, insoluble in benzene, Solvent naphtba and dichlorobenzene. The aqueous solution, which reacts slightly acidic, can salt out with hydrochloric acid and table salt. She very vigorously drops glue solutions. With Ferric chloride gives it a dark gray-green precipitate, also due to aluminum and it is precipitated by salts of chromium, and also by salts of the alkaline earths. The product contains varying amounts of chlorine, in this example 36 percent. In the same way the purified extracts obtained from sulphite pulp waste liquor can be used.
