Bei solchen Anlagen war die Luftpumpe bisher von dem Gleichrichtergefäß isoliert und an Erde gelegt. Zu diesem Zweck wurde ein isolierendes Stück Rohr in die Luftleitung zwischen Pumpe und Gleichrichtergefäß eingeschaltet. Solange die Spannung verhältnismäßig niedrig war, hatte dies auch keinen Nachteil, dagegen traten bei höhe'ren Spannungen stille Entladungen auf. Diese stillen Entladungen können sehr leicht zum direkten Kurzschluß mit Erde führen, wodurch dann die Anlage zerstört wird. Um diese stillen Entladungen wirksam zu vermeiden, wird erfindungsgemäß die Luftpumpe von Erde isoliert und metallisch mit dem Gleichrichtergehäuse verbunden.
