Description

The invention relates to a composite material for breathable protective suits, especially ABC protective suits.

Already after the First World War it was clear that the soldier was a personal soldier Protective equipment against chemical warfare agents needed. First were Masks designed to protect the respiratory tract and eyes while protecting the skin was neglected and only the heavy uniform material a certain Protection bot. Special airtight tarpaulins were also used to counteract To protect gas attacks, especially spray attacks.

The Bundeswehr uses a rubberized protective suit under the name "Zodiac" with smooth, sprayable outer layer. Furthermore describes the German patent application DE 38 29 501 A1 and the US patent 48 33 010 a multi-layer material for protective suits with a smooth surface. These laminates contain one or more foils with a barrier effect also textile components. Because of the lack of water vapor permeability these suits can only be worn for a short time (heat build-up, body moisture cannot escape).

Furthermore, from the German patents P 29 51 827 C2 and P 28 29 599 C2 as well as from utility model G 84 05 127 protective suits known are permeable to air and therefore water vapor, but one on the outside rough, because textile, have surface. Such a protective suit cannot be hosed down and does not protect against atomic fall-out.

There are water vapor permeable foils, for example the Sympatex Akzo / Enka-Glanzstoff film or water vapor permeable polyurethane coatings, for example Impraperm AD-03 and LH-03 from Bayer AG, the could theoretically be applied to the outside of a protective suit, however, these absorb up to 60% of their weight in moisture, lose it and a considerable part of their mechanical strength therefore unsuitable for external application. The from the utility model G 84 05 127 known microporous Teflon membrane is because of its high vulnerability also unsuitable as outer material.

Compared to this prior art, the invention is based on the object to create a composite that is both water vapor permeable as is also smooth on the surface, hardly swells under the influence of moisture and is mechanically strong.

This object is achieved with the features of claim 1 the strength of the fabric is achieved in that the occurring in the wet The swelling of the film is adequately suppressed by metered crosslinking and the film is fully welded to the textile backing. It it was found that with the help of a properly dimensioned cross-linking the Swelling of the water vapor-permeable polyurethanes mentioned is restricted can be (<30%, preferably <20%) that under influence good mechanical properties are obtained from wetness without the Water vapor permeability is reduced excessively. How to network is known to the person skilled in the art. For example, from Bayer AG's leaflet for Impranil EWN that Desmodur additive Z, a diisocyanate, is a suitable crosslinker. The amount required for the effect (1 to a few percent) the expert must determine experimentally.

The thickness of the water vapor permeable layer, 10-100 μ, preferably 20 up to 70 µ is based on a compromise: films that are too thin wear out fast, too thick, on the other hand, slow down the passage of moisture too much.

For the ABC protective suits, it is recommended to use the textile backing material as Train heat protection. This can be done in the manner of the patent DE 29 51 827 C2 or DE 28 29 599 C2, or by using modern fibers such as aramids or benzimidazoles, which are known to the person skilled in the art. Furthermore, an ABC protective suit requires an internal adsorption layer, to protect against skin-penetrating warfare agents. Such adsorption layers are also described in the two patents mentioned.
