Abstract
Soil sampling equipment (10) comprises an inner sampling tube (14) and extension rods (18), and outer sacrificial tube (12) having a ground piercing tube (12A) and extension pieces (12B). The inner and outer tubes are a relatively close clearance fit and are driven into the ground simultaneously by any suitable means, e.g. a weight dropped repeatedly from a given height.
