Die Erfindung betrifft Schachteln und ist insbesondere darauf gerichtet, eine verbesserte Schachtel mit einem transparenten Fenster zur Darbietung seines Inhalts an einer Verkaufsstelle bereitzustellen.The invention relates to boxes and is particularly directed to providing an improved box with a transparent window for displaying its contents at a point of sale.

Bei einer solchen Schachtel ist es wünschenswert, daß das transparente Fenster sich um wenigstens eine durch benachbarte Seitenwände der Schachtel festgelegte Kante erstreckt, um die Sichtbarkeit des Inhalts zu verbessern. Dies erfordert die Verwendung eines relativ steifen und selbsttragenden transparenten Flachmaterials zur Bildung des Fensters, wie etwa Polyvinylacetatflachmaterial, um die Festigkeit der Schachtel beizubehalten. Jedoch tritt bei Verwendung eines solchen Materials das Problem auf, daß wenn ein geeignet angeritztes und faltbares transparentes Flachmaterial an der Innenfläche eines Karton oder Papierbogens um eine Fensteröffnung darin gesichert, beispielsweise geklebt ist und die so gebildete Kombination zur Bildung einer Schachtel aufgestellt wird, wegen der Steifheit des Flachmaterials und der Scharfheit der Falten darin dieses durch das Bogenmaterial an Stellen durchbricht, wo an den Außenenden der in dem transparenten Fenster festgelegten Kante eine Knickkante in dem transparenten Flachmaterial die Innenseite einer entsprechenden Knickkante in dem Kartonmaterial überlappt. Zur Vermeidung dieses Problems wurden verschiedene Versuche durchgeführt, beispielsweise durch Bildung von Kerben in dem transparenten Flachmaterial dort, wo es die Knicklinien des Bogens überlappt, wie etwa in der UK-B-2090230, jedoch waren diese Vorschläge bis jetzt zeimlich teuer und oder beim Umsatz in die Praxis kompliziert.In such a box it is desirable that the transparent window extends around at least one edge defined by adjacent side walls of the box to improve visibility of the contents. Aus der DE-U-8530488 ist eine Schachtel zur Darbietung eines Gegenstands bekannt, umfassend einen mit einer Fensteröffnung versehenen äußeren Schachtelkörper und eine Inneneinheit aus relativ steifem transparentem Flachmaterial zum Halten des Gegenstands, wobei die Inneneinheit ein zentrales Flächenteil und zwei mit dem zentralen Flächenteil im wesentlichen U-förmig verbundene Flügelabschnitte umfasst. Die Anordnung der DE-U-8530488 ist jedoch darin nachteilig, daß sie keine geeignete Halterung für den darin aufgenommenen Gegenstand aufweist. Aus der FR-A-1225812 ist eine Schachtel bekannt, an deren Innenseite Blöcke aus synthetischem Material, z.B. aufgeschäumtem Polystyrol, vorgesehen und so ausgebildet sind, daß sie mit der Form eines Gegenstands zusammenpassen und somit eine geeignete Halterung bilden. Erfindungsgemäß wird eine Schachtel zur Aufnahme und Darbietung eines im wesentlichen kugeligen oder ovalen Gegenstands aufgezeigt, umfassend: einen äußeren Schachtelkörper, ausgebildet mit einer Fensteröffnung, die sich vollständig quer über seine erste Seitenwand und um zwei benachbarte Kanten der Schachtel herum bis in zwei an gegenüberliegenden Seiten der ersten Seitenwand anschließende zweite Seitenwände erstreckt; und eine Inneneinheit, die aus relativ steifem transparentem Flachmaterial zum Halten des Gegenstands gebildet ist, wobei die Inneneinheit ein zentrales Flächenteil, daß die Fensteröffnung in der ersten Seitenwand verschließt, und zwei Flügelabschnitte, die durch Faltlinien mit dem zentralen Flächenteil in im wesentlichen U-förmiger Anordnung verbunden sind, aufweist; wobei die Flügelabschnitte jeweils mit nach innen weisenden, im wesentlichen keilkugeligen Ausnehmungen gebildet sind, die zur Aufnahme und zum Halten des Gegenstands durch Eingriff mit dessen gegenüberliegenden Seiten angeordnet sind; wodurch bei Verwendung der Gegenstand in der Schachtel nur durch die Inneneinheit gehalten wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Ausnehmungen eine genügend kugelige Ausdehnung haben, um den Gegenstand zu umfassen und im wesentlichen einzuschließen, daß die Flügelabschnitte sich in die Fensteröffnungen in den zwei anschließenden zwei Seitenwänden hineinerstrecken und daß die Faltlinien wenigstens zum Teil die zwei angrenzenden Kanten der schachtel bilden.According to the invention there is provided a box for receiving and displaying a substantially spherical or oval object, comprising: an outer box body formed with a window opening extending completely across its first side wall and around two adjacent edges of the box into two second side walls adjoining opposite sides of the first side wall; and an inner unit formed of relatively rigid transparent sheet material for holding the object, the inner unit having a central panel portion closing the window opening in the first side wall and two wing sections connected by fold lines to the central panel portion in a substantially U-shaped arrangement; the wing sections each being formed with inwardly facing, substantially wedge-spherical recesses arranged to receive and hold the object by engagement with opposite sides thereof; whereby, in use, the object is held in the box only by the inner unit, characterized in that the recesses have a sufficiently spherical extent to encompass the object and are substantially to include that the wing sections extend into the window openings in the two adjacent side walls and that the fold lines at least partially form the two adjacent edges of the box.

Bezüglich der Zeichnungen ist die in Fig. 1 dargestellte Transparentflachmaterialeinheit 1 aus Polyvinylacetat derart geformt, daß sie ausreichend steif und selbsttragend ist, um einen Hauptteil einer Wand einer Kartonschachtel zu bilden, ohne die Festigkeit der Schachtel wesentlich herabzusetzen. Die Einheit ist mit einer natürlichen Ausformung gemäß Fig. 1 vorgeformt mit einem ein wenig nach innen gebogenen zentralen Flächenteil 2 und zwei mit dem Flächenteil 2 über vertikale Faltlinien 4 angelenkten Flügelabschnitten 3. Gleichzeitig wird ein kugeliger Gegenstand 6, der in die Schachtel zur Darbietung und zum Verkauf aufgenommen werden soll, zwischen die Flügelabschnitte 3 eingesetzt, so daß er in den Ausnehmungen 5 angeordnet und gehalten wird. Die somit gebildete Anordnung wird dann in einen Kartonschachtelkörper 7 eingesetzt, wie in den Figuren 3 und 4 gezeigt, wobei der Körper mit einer Fensteröffnung 8 gebildet ist, die sich um drei seiner Seitenwände erstreckt, welche Seitenwände zwischen sich Kanten 9 und 10 festlegen. Einmal eingesetzt und losgelassen öffnet sich die transparente Flachmaterialeinheit nocheinmal ein wenig um die Faltlinien 4, so daß sie in Reibeingriff mit den Innenwandflächen des Schachtelkörpers kommt und somit darin angeordnet und gehalten wird, wie in den Figuren 3 und 4 gezeigt, wobei die exponierten Abschnitte des transparenten Flachmaterials ein Fenster 11 bilden und die Kanten des Fensters durch die Faltlinien 4 geformt werden. Claims

1. Box for containing and presenting a substantially spherical or oval object (6), comprising:

an outer box body (7) formed with a window opening (8) extending completely across its first side wall and around two adjacent edges of the box into two second side walls adjoining opposite sides of the first side wall, and

an inner unit (1) formed from relatively rigid transparent sheet material for holding the object (6), the inner unit (1) having a central sheet part (2) which closes the window opening (8) in the first side wall and two wing sections (3) which are connected by fold lines (4) to the central sheet part (2) in a substantially U-shaped arrangement,

wherein the wing sections (3) are each formed with inwardly facing, substantially part-spherical recesses (5) which are arranged to receive and hold the object (6) by engaging with its opposite sides,

whereby, during use, the object (6) is held in the box only by the internal unit (1),

characterized,

that the recesses (5) have a sufficiently spherical extension to encompass and substantially enclose the object (6), that the wing sections (3) extend into the window openings (8) in the two extending into the adjacent second side walls and that the fold lines (4) at least partially form the two adjacent edges of the box.

2. A box according to claim 1, in which the transparent sheet material comprises a preformed unit, the natural shape of which is larger than the internal dimensions of the box body (7), but is resiliently compressed around at least one fold line (4) in the unit (1) of sheet material when inserted into the box body (7).
