Abstract

The output signal of the optical sensor (7) is used to synchronise the transport of the record carrier (2) with the transfer and printing processes at the charge storage drum (3). The optical measuring unit (9-13) travels from a zero position in steps across the transport path and detects the side edge (200) of the record carrier. The number of steps is used as a measure of the side deviation from a defined position, for the horizontal adjustment of the toner imahe, so taht a line is started at a specified horizontal distance from the side edge. The optical measuring unit includes a forked light barrier (9,11) and a stepper motor (12), controlled by a control circuit (15,16,D1-D8), also provided with a measurement value detection unit (14,17-22).
